FLASHBACK: Ever After High

I got back into EAH recently and became obsessed with this First Chapter Raven Queen with the new smiling face. I had to import her from the UK, but she finally made it a couple days ago.

I can't remember my initial thoughts on the face changes. I like my Epic Winter girls with their smiling faces. Being separated from the end of the line for a few years now, I can definitely appreciate how cute this Raven is. She's adorable!

Raven being as sweet and caring as she is, the smiling face does suit her. I love the more brooding, serious face on the original doll, as that also fits her struggling with her dilemma, but it's nice to have an alternate option where she looks happy.

I'll try to take better photos of her later. We adopted a new dog on Tuesday and my free time has been limited. I took these quickly while both of my dogs were sleeping on the couch.

Now that I have Raven, I really want the new face Cerise, too.

If anyone has any leads on finding one, please let me know. I have a feeling I'll have to import again!

REVIEW: Monster High Scareadise Island Heath Burns

Heath arrived from Amazon yesterday.

Ah, the skinny boxes bring back memories.

Cute art.

Why does he need sunscreen?

Doll Heath is far cuter than cartoon Heath.

The clothes are pretty basic, but they work for him.

These are cute.

I love the hair.

Really cool.

Overall, I like him a lot. Better than the cartoon design for sure, though not as cute as the G1 design. He's a good choice for a more basic line, as he doesn't really need school accessories and never had a pet.

REVIEW: New Style Hairmazing Part 2

Got my fifth new Hairmazing today and thankfully they sent the right one!

Now I'm just waiting on those replacements, hoping they're the correct dolls this time.

This outfit is all one piece.

I love everything about this girl except the lipstick. It's too light.

Still plenty cute for five bucks.

REVIEW: Rainbow High New Friends Blu Brooks

Finally managed to get Blu ordered from Walmart.

On one hand, she looks so silly in this box.On the other hand, it emphasizes her shortness, which is pretty funny.

It's deceptive though. She looks like a tiny thing here, but the height difference really isn't major.

Stand and comb.

Crappy accessories. What does she need headphones for? Boring.

The skateboard is the only good piece.

I had to do some gel removal on her.

Nice makeup.

She's really cute.

Her earrings are simple thin hoops that I like.

Ugh.

Also ugh.

I like the idea of this, but...

It's open on the bottom?

I would have preferred them to cheap out with it being open on the top...so things could conceivably go in it.

The water I get. She does athletic stuff.

The cast is very cute, except I wish they'd had the characters sign their names, instead of having a bunch of generic crap on there.

The shirt is cute. She looks good in black.

I love that she's this curvy. But why are her boobs so square? That's such a strange shape.

On the skateboard. I love the cast and skateboard. They make up for the other accessories being weaker.

There's really not much height difference. Olivia's still in her heels, too, so the difference would be even less if I'd not been lazy and actually taken her boots off.

Overall, I love her. She's my fave of the RH blue characters, though costume Robin is close behind.

There's just something very cute about this doll that appeals to me.

Some accessories are weak, but I could say that about most of them.

REVIEW: New Style Hairmazing

Well, I ordered five of the new face Hairmazing and they sent me two of the dolls I ordered and two dolls from the older series. Sigh. (The fifth one only just shipped today.)

I saw the curvy fairy with the new face in Walmart a couple days ago but didn't get her.

Cute art.

I like these girls. The new faces are cute.

I wasn't 100% sure I wanted this one, but I'm glad I went for her. At under $5, I can be a little less picky than usual.

Love this one!

That topknot thing will never be my fave hairstyle, but for some reason, it works for her.

Definitely cute! I hope the fifth one is the correct doll, as it's the black girl I really want. The others I'll get who knows when, as I have to wait for the returns to be received.

IN STOCK: Hairmazing

Back in July, I posted about the upcoming line of Hairmazing dolls with new face screenings. Well, they're finally in stock. Or most of them are anyway.

These have gone up from a little under $5 to $5.88, but a lot of them are currently on sale, so they're under $5 again.

There are four new regular dolls.

Blue streaks and adorable butterfly top:

Easily my fave of all the new ones. She is so cute and her outfit is really nice.

Curvy brunette with split outfit:

I love her, too.

Pigtailed blonde:

I almost didn't get this one, because I just did my Hairmazing display and I do not have room for the five newbies I ordered. I was trying to be more picky and then just said "screw it" and ordered all five I wanted. I'll redo the display. (It's on pause anyway, because I'm rereading the Ever After High books the dolls are standing in front of.)

Curly sporty smiling:

Definitely the weakest outfit of the four, but she's the only one with an open smile and the doll herself is really cute. The top is growing on me.

Then we've got four new ladies in the fantasy line.

Purple-haired princess:

I ordered this one. She appealed the most of the new ones. These fantasy dolls seem to have much larger eyes than the regular fashion ones, who are doing the ol' Top Model smize. I like this girl's dress, too.

Blue-haired princess:

Hairmazing really loves to put blue hair on their darker-skinned dolls. She looks a lot like the mermaid they released most recently (I love her) and like the fairy that came not long before her. Very cute, but the repetition makes her easy to skip.

Curvy fairy:

Yay, a curvy fairy! Except she's incredibly boring. The best thing about her is that this is the only listing that shows all the current fantasy dolls, including the mermaid and princess that have been out a few months. So click the link if you want to see the fourth new one. She's a curvy mermaid with a smiling face and pink hair.

I'm glad to see this line still continuing. They're fun and a good value for the cheap price. I'll have reviews up as mine arrive.

Shadow High Series 3 Bios

Well, the new Shadow High bios are up and...they exist.

Gah, they are SO BAD. Who is even getting paid to write this drivel? UGH.

Oliver's is one of the better ones. My only real complaint is that his "Why fit in when you can stand out?" completely goes against the whole concept of him being comfortable everywhere. Clearly, he does fit in. A lot.

I like that Berrie is making clothes and accessories from old items. It would be cooler if she was a double focus then.

The weirdness of the Fashion & Style Details section is pretty high. I don't think we were supposed to see those parts. We never have before.

Lavender's makes it even more obvious that those details were in-house notes.

They really would have been better off referring to the face sculpts by the name of the first character that used it.

I love that she isn't rich. At least one of these kids has a damn job, aside from Ruby and Kia.

So Rosie Redwood is from Colorado. Where there are zero redwoods. Ugh.

They can't even spell cosmetology right.

Yep, Pinkie James. That's a very German name. I'm offended they wasted Germany on this girl. It would have been fine if she'd only had at least one of her names be German. And if her outfit didn't suck but that's another story...

They couldn't even decide what her focus was, though at least they can spell this time.

Nice weak catchphrase. I really hope this writer is making next to nothing because that's what they deserve.

I read Scarlet's first because a) of course I did and b) she was first in line anyway. I was originally really annoyed that hers is so simple, but now that I've read the others, she at least dodged the bullet of the weird, should have stayed behind the scenes design section.

I quite like how she sounds, but I hate that there's zero explanation of Storywood. That's not sci fi. I get that they want to keep it secret because that's what MGAE is obsessed with, but how hard would it have been to just say she was a fan?

If you keep going with RH/SH, MGAE, please hire a new writer. These are truly awful.

Meet the Care Weres!

I discovered the Care Weres on Instagram and was able to preorder these two before the preorder shop closed.

It felt like a long wait until they made their way to me, but they finally arrived!

The creator released a handful of each character while packing the preorders and I managed to grab the third one I wanted, too. I waited until she arrived before posting these pics here, though I did share on IG already.

So the Care Weres are...pretty obviously...what if Care Bears were werewolves?

(The creator of the line calls them Careweres, but I can't resist separating the words to resemble Care Bears more closely.)

These guys are HUGE. They're a whopping 20" so they dwarf vintage and modern Care Bears.

This lovely gray guy is Foggy Were. He was my first choice, which is likely not surprising.

Perhaps a bit outside the box, Nightmare Were was my must have second choice. I simply couldn't afford three of them at the time and the preorder store was closing in only a few days after I learned about them. My third character seems more up my alley, but Nightmare and his big orange and red eyes won me over.

Witching Were is the one I was able to order recently. She came not too long after the first two, which was nice.

I love her pink eyes!

And her voice in my head is totally Amber Benson's. Zero shame. Tara forever.

I'm really happy with my three, though I am going to be tempted if another batch goes up for sale. I'm pretty sure there will be more put up eventually. If it's at the right time, I'm going to try for Rare Were, the hot pink one who loves steak. Her belly badge is a heart-shaped steak. It's excellent.

One more photo so you can see Witching and Nightmare side by side. These two are sister and brother in my little family.

Care Weres Series 2 features the Care Were Cousins and it's currently available for backing:

https://www.backerkit.com/c/mcmadmissile/careweres-a-cryptid-collection-series-2

This project has really gone viral and the support is spectacular. The main new cryptids are the bat, wolpertinger, Beelzebear, and mothman. Several designs for each have been unlocked, and the newest is Krampus himself. I don't even know if I can afford as many as I want, but I'm gonna try!

SHYMMA!!!

I went into Target to check on something for a friend and ended up coming out ecstatic, because I found SHYMMA!

Shymma is the limited edition character for Series 3 of Mixlings. Only 10,000 were made and she comes with a numbered card, as well as being numbered on the back of her head.

Shymma has a multi-colored long fuzzy tail and rubbery wings.

Her wand is a UV light that shows off secret markings on her body and face, and lights up the glittery pink spots on her wings and her antennae so they glow hot pink.

The key to finding her is mostly luck, but also knowing that her code is shorter than a regular code. So I recommend flipping those cauldrons over and checking for the short code, because you never know when you may find her.

I have had zero luck with the LEs in the first two series, so I'm pretty shocked to finally have one. And someone had carelessly plopped her in a random display box for a different line. Wouldn't they kick themselves if they knew they'd left the rare behind!
