Unconventional Reviews: Rainbow High & LOL OMG

So these are some older items I opted not to do full reviews on. There are loads of them that show all the details.

I've had the poor De'Vious twins sitting around for months.

Laurel is the warm-toned twin and Holly is the cool.

PROS: Deboxing was pretty easy. I like the clear boxes they come with for storage. The purses are nicely-constructed and I love the gemstone earrings. All 4 pairs of shoes are nice. I love the multi-colored nails and the girls' hair was silky and gel-free. I love how colorful their hair is, too. It's obscured from the front but from the back, all those colors are lovely.

CONS: I'm not a fan of their main outfits. They look like they stepped out of an 80s nighttime soap opera. Yet at the same time, I found them impossible to redress, so they ended up back in these dresses. I may not like them, but they do suit the characters. I also decluttered them. No giant letter earrings or silly chokers. The concept of splitting up the R and H for Rainbow High doesn't work for me if you have multiple initials. I do like it on their purses, because then it's one R and one H as it should be.

So where did the awesome gem earrings go? Stolen by these two gorgeous thieves. Favorite accessories are always going to go to my favorite dolls. Sorry, twins.

OVERALL: I like the twins far more than I expected to. They're pretty dolls. Not the most unique or diverse and definitely not the best-designed, but they're pretty and I'm a sucker for mean girls. They make the show more interesting.

I finally got Kia Hart last night. I kept waiting for a decent sale on her and $23.99 was acceptable. I definitely think the doll is way overpriced and she has far more quality control issues than any other RH I've seen yet. One of the three in the store was missing half her eyebrow and mine is missing a lot of nail polish.

FACE: She's gorgeous. I always love brown eyes.

HAIR: Loaded with gel, but it washed out nicely. I love the colors.

ACCESSORIES: One of her earrings broke off so they're ruined. I didn't like them, but still. Her second shoes are a bit much for me, but these rainbow ones are glorious. If only they stayed on a bit more securely! The barrettes are a cute touch.

CLOTHES: I don't actually mind them as much as I used to. Kia is very busy. There's always a lot going on with her pieces, so there's no way I can tone them down as I usually do. I like the black and white top, so I took off the white one and then put the jacket on because it's cute. The holographic pants are really cool. I like the second top, but not the shorts. Flaw-wise, they were mostly okay, but one patch on her jacket is fraying.

OVERALL: I wasn't going to get Kia at her full price because she is clearly way overpriced. She's more like a $30 doll not $40. Maybe $32 at most. But I loved her character working in the Rainbow Union on the show. I can relate, Kia. So after that, I kept watch for a sale and I'm happy with the price I paid. She'll never be a fave, but she's certainly cute.

I'm being far more picky about LOL OMG now, but Gamma Babe was the one I was most interested in from the movie line. She reminds me of the old Mercu and Jupi Pullips. I got her for $19 from the Amazon Warehouse.

I love the hair, her makeup and her overall design. But the doll is not without flaws.

The purple jacket from the second outfit should never have had a zipper. It was impossible to close. These blue pieces are very stiff. The top was really hard to put on and the skirt is permanently creased. Her earrings are cute, but were not fun to put on.

I like her. She's fun. I'm glad I got her, but definitely glad I didn't pay anywhere near full price.

REVIEW: Basic Fun Retro MLP Twinkle-Eyed Sky Rocket & Sweet Stuff

Got my hands on two of the new Twinkle-Eyes by hitting ebay. Still need the other two. I hate that more stores don't carry these. I swear, wherever I live, we never have the good discount or specific chain stores that end up with toys.

Back of the box.

Sky Rocket was my must have from the line and she does not disappoint.

These come with the tail bow, comb and sticker.

Unfortunately, they got the stupid idea of putting gel on the tips of the mane that stick through the sewn-on plastic band. UGH.

Sweet Stuff with her stuff.

She had slightly less gel than Sky Rocket. Both of them are in the salon right now.

And the amusement that is TE faces. Especially on this mold. They're like alien ponies.

I hope to find Fizzy and Gingerbread for decent prices soon!

REVIEW: Royal Enchantimals Queen Paradise & Rainbow

Finally got the last of the royal queens! I had actually ordered this lady from the same Dutch seller I got the first two from. However, they didn't actually have her in stock. After asking about it, I was told they'd get her in on November 10th. I was fine with that...but Amazon wasn't. When she wasn't shipped after a month, Amazon cancelled the order. I decided to wait and import her after I got back from vacation, but then Amazon surprised me by getting her in stock. I'm not sure if the other two queens came in for sale directly from Amazon, but she did.

Unfortunately, my first one had three sizeable paint rubs to her lips, so I ordered two more and they arrived today. These two were both good, so one of them will be on her way back to Amazon along with the damaged one.

Cute art.

Like the other queens, she's awesome. I wish they'd experimented with this size earlier so we got more animals done this way.

She did have glitter on her "beak" but I rubbed it off. This doll had the best eye makeup but her nose glitter had a large space where it was missing, so I just scratched all the rest off. She doesn't need a glittery nose. Silly concept anyway.

Here's Rainbow.

Daviana, Unity and Paradise together.

None of them have great hair, but Unity and Paradise have better quality than Daviana.

I really do like these. I wish they'd done a black or gray character. Doesn't really fit with the royal theme, I guess. Too bad.

REVIEW: Cave Club Dino Rockin' Party Bashley

Another lady long time coming. Amazon got Bashley in stock so she can join Emberly. Sadly, I really don't think we'll ever see Fernessa from this line. I'm hoping Amazon gets the Tella and dino set in though.

Emberly was fun, but Bashley is clearly the star of this duo.

Bashley comes with the same kid-sized accessories as Emberly: scrunchy, barrette and ring.

Her doll-sized accessories are sunglasses, 2 scrunchies, a cassette purse, and I'm guessing that's a karaoke machine. I'm a big fan of her comb. Sometimes I just really like the color of things.

Like her basic doll, this Bashley is also gorgeous.

She has mismatched earrings, which are perfect for her.

My only wish is that one of her scrunchies was the same lime green.

Bashley is a stunning doll and definitely the prettiest character of the Cave Club line. I'm glad to have two versions of her, because I'm fairly sure the line is over.

WANTED!

If anyone comes across the new Basic Fun Twinkle-Eyed MLPs and could grab me some, I'd be very grateful! There's nowhere near me that carries them. Or if you know of anywhere to order them online, that'd be awesome, too.

REVIEW: Monster High Skullector Greta Gremlin

Did I save the best for last? Why, yes, I did.

(So much so that my internet service went down halfway through this and here I am picking it up again the next morning.)

My options for this shot were slightly blurry text with no glare or clearer text that was harder to read with a glare.

Man, I LOVED Gremlins when it came out. I had the Gizmo plush, figures from the first movie, and two figures from the second movie: Mohawk and GRETA. So you can imagine how excited I was when Greta was revealed as the newest Skullector doll.

So excited that I splurged and bought one to open. I wish I could have done this with the Beetlejuice set, but it was just too expensive. At $60 though, I could afford two Gretas. Plus, I knew this new sculpt would be best appreciated deboxed.

Her body is fab! I love all the color details and the sculpting. Her hands are so cool!

And her face and ears are perfection!

The box hair leaves a bit to be desired.

So Greta comes with the stand, earrings and barrette from the above pics, plus Gizmo, her dress, belt, jacket and shoes, a purse featuring Stripe from the first movie, and her signature red lipstick.

I washed the gel out of her hair, let her air dry, and then did a gentle brushing on the back of her hair. I left the front curl on her left unbrushed. I noticed when I was washing her hair that she had a couple snarls I wanted to brush out, but I didn't end up liking the final result. So most of these pics were taken before her final salon trip.

Closer shot with only the dress on.

With the belt.

I moved her hair completely out of her face in case anyone wanted to see it that way.

Hands are removable for easy dressing, as is typical with MH.

Lipstick time!

Oh, hey, Gizmo.

Gizmo and her shoes.

A final glamour shot.

Okay, now these last few are after her second trip to the salon. I conditioned and rinsed her hair again, combed it with my fingers, and then just let her air dry. No brushing this time.

Much happier with it now.

Wild green curls. I really wish doll companies would do more dolls with this green. Rainbow High hasn't even done it and they're RAINBOW High.

And one final look.

I'm very lucky that I was able to do this and my not-so-inner child is thrilled to have such an awesome Greta doll after years  of playing with a static figurine. I pre-ordered a set of Mogwai action figures that will eventually join Greta on the shelves and I need to find my Mohawk from several years ago. She'll eventually be in a little Gremlins display.

Now if only someone would make high quality plush from the movies. I'm eyeing some beautiful handmade ones on etsy, but they're not cheap!

Back to MH, who do you think the next Skullector character(s) might be? I think they're running low on safe options.

Blume Dolls Series 1

I wanted something from the Five Below site and added some Blume dolls to my order. I got four, then got hooked and ordered five more. I did really well with the last five, so I'm done collecting now and thought I'd share some pics.

On the left there is Leilani. She's the "mystical" one (AKA: ultra rare). And her top keeps slipping. Sigh. Then there are Nori, Sedona, Sierra (rare), and Cleo (super rare).

Cleo was my most wanted from the series. I can't believe I got her! She seems pretty hard to find. I looked for these on ebay and I can't believe the problems with the auctions. Many of them are missing every piece! Even the giant hair! And if they do have the hair, they're missing clothes. Or if by some miracle, they have the clothes, they're missing the adorable pet.

The giant hair, which is removable and switchable, isn't the most stable thing on some of the dolls. They each come with an outfit with shoes, a purse and a pet. The pets are absolutely darling.

The cacti are my favorites, but the chocolate kiss is close behind.

Here's Leilani again.

Gotta go fix that top.

The green one was the first I opened. Her name is Tess.

Then we've got Mandy, Krystal and Cammie. Cammie is my fave after Cleo, though I really love Krystal, too. I might buy the other common crystal-haired doll, Celine, as she's easy to find on the secondary.

I'm glad I took a random chance on these. They're cute.
