COLLECTION UPDATE: Altaya Strawberry Shortcake

I thought I'd give an update my Altaya collection, as I just got five new ones in and am in the process of getting more.

So starting from the beginning, here's my lovely Raisin Cane. Still my favorite. I don't think anyone will ever take the top spot from her.

Adorable T.N. Honey was my second.

And then the boy version of Plum Pudding, which was the character's original design.

(Sorry for the unfixed hairs in their faces. I felt like doing a doll post, but I got the covid vaccine today and my arm has been sore all day, so I was trying to just take one quick pic of each doll and didn't stop to mess with the hair.)

Then we've got the five new ones that arrived yesterday.

Altaya has been doing the Berrykin line and adding characters to it. When I saw Blueberry, I had to have her.

The hair on this line isn't the best and I know a quick condition and style would help, but these dolls smell fantastic and I don't want any conditioner smells messing with that.

Blueberry may never have existed, but Plum was indeed in the vintage Berrykin line. Those dolls are ridiculous in price, so I'm happy to have a replica.

Altaya's newest venture is tackling the many Brazilian characters. Also quite pricey for the real thing, also something I'm happy to have replicas of.

So this is the first, Little Rose. She smells lovely, though not quite Rose Petal lovely.

Then we've got Little Violet. Definitely my favorite of these new arrivals. I adore her curly hair and darker eyes. (Can't quite tell if her eyes are brown or purple. I'll have to look in daylight.)

She's got an interesting but pleasant floral scent.

And finally, there's Little Apple with her fab hair color. Love that light green!

The next two are Little Pineapple and Little Cherry. I'm hoping to get them soon, but my priority went to Berrykin Banana Twirl and Peach Blush, who I purchased a few minutes ago. Banana's prices are rising and as a Berrykin-only character, she's one I need.

Love these!

NEWS: Glitter Girls 2021

Amazon has some new Glitter Girls listings up!

Tammy with Surfboard:

https://www.amazon.com/Glitter-Girls-Dolls-Battat-Surfboard/dp/B08NSP4W6N/

This is the one only that's orderable right now. In stock on the 7th.

She's cute, but I don't think I'll be paying $28 when I only like the doll.

Percy with Travel Accessories:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08NSWYQT8/

Cute but skippable for me. I think. I do keep coming back to look at her.

Jolie:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08NSTF8P5/

Black Flo. This trend of theirs really saddens me. When they did a white version of black doll, they gave her a different-colored outfit. When they've done black versions of white dolls, they've had the same outfit, so if you like the doll, you're forced to buy a repeat outfit. I think Jolie is really pretty and I love her hairstyle, but will I buy her and then an outfit to dress her in? Probably not.

Astrid:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08NTBV9M2/

She looks exactly like Tavi but with pigtails.

Kika:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08NT3TZQG/

Bluebelle with straight hair. Or maybe Candace with lighter eyes? She's pretty, but I have Bluebelle and Candace already.

Soo Ji:

 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08NT54JBN/

Saved the best for last. This is the one I'll actually be buying! She's gorgeous, her hair is different and her outfit is cute.

Oh, just found Milla and her horse, too:

Nothing new on Target.com yet, but I'll be watching.

REVIEW: Kitten Catfe Series 4

I bought a lot of 5 Series 4 Kitten Catfes on ebay, since my stores don't have them yet. (I never even got all of Series 3 that I wanted. Sigh.)

These are similar to Series 3. Same boba theme and translucent meowbles.

This one is Goldy Brew. I always love the brown ones, so I'm happy I got her.

Cute!

Coco Matcha was also on my want list. I also love the green ones. The brown, the green and the gray.

The number of meowbles still varies. That's always been consistent across all the series.

It's too bad mine has scratches on her face, but she's still cute.

Then we've got Cleo Conpanna.

Not one I wanted, but of course still cute.

I managed to only take this one picture of Pink Daisy.

And finally, Meowdaline Jones.

I think she was the second one I opened.

Not one I wanted, but...

She's actually super adorable and I love her.

Great hair!

Now I need to track down more. I need 3. One has a pink cup, one purple, and one an orange. And of course the orange one has the same meowble ball color as both Cleo and Goldy, so I imagine I'll be getting doubles there while trying to find her.

REVIEW: LOL OMG Spicy Babe

I got very excited when I saw someone post the link to Spicy Babe on Walmart.com. She was in stock for pickup from a farther store, but the next day, there she was at the store near work. I bought one for pickup and grabbed her on Monday. She needed salon time so I didn't get to her review until tonight.

I'm not sure what we're calling this pair. Series 4? I'm calling them Opposite Club in my pic folders.

Spicy comes with the usual assortment of accessories.

The stand clips were in the hatbox.

Jacket and pants. Love the materials.

I LOVE the deep blue of her stand. Yeah, it doesn't go with anything, but I don't even care. I wish her brush was the same color.

Here's her purse! SO CUTE! The tiny chill pepper. I love it.

And here she is. The gel didn't fully wash out, but I don't mind. Now her bangs will get a little less mussed.

Gorgeous.

Spicy is definitely one where I don't mind red and pink together, because the original tot had that.

The pants were a minor struggle to get on.

Gave me flashbacks to all the vinyl I used to wear like 20 years ago that I struggled into.

I don't usually remove OMG hands. They tell you that they're not meant for that. Most of the time I don't struggle getting any long-sleeved pieces on, but for Spicy (and Camp before her), I risked hand-removal. It worked just fine. Those plastic sleeves are quite stiff so it's hard to get the soft hands through. Also watch for the thin straps near the cuffs.

Accessorized!

I love the spiked pigtail holders.

The spike earring actually gave me no trouble. It was the dangling one I struggled with. I didn't even push it in all the way because it was being difficult.

I'm not sure why they gave her a turtleneck AND a collar. I've worn collars for years. You don't pair them with anything with a high neck.

Man, do I love her though!

Adorable purse.

I don't usually pose them with the tot version, but I had to for Spicy, because they nailed her. She's different from the tot but also similar enough that she's easily identified. They nailed her.

The only thing I'd change is the turtleneck.

I pray they do Dusk as well. Don't screw her up like you did Lady Shadow or whatever Midnight's big sis was called.

So these are my two faves.

And here are all my top faves!

Dollie and Camp almost made it into the photo. They're close behind these guys.

REVIEW: LOL OMG Winter Chill Camp Cutie

This is the girl from this line that I was most excited for, yet I somehow was determined to not pay full price for her.

OMG is a weird line for me. It's very easy for me to let them sit unopened for weeks or months, but when I get around to opening them, I really enjoy them and it makes me want more.

The usual accessories.

Opened.

Once again, we've got ridiculous hoop earrings. Why in the world does a camping doll need earrings the size of saucers? Those won't be shown on her.

Oh, this poor dear. I knew she was going to have epic gel-head and she does.

She's gorgeous though!

Into the salon with you.

Oh, I love her little red briefs. So cute.

Some slight differences between the original doll (left) and the new one (right).

Camp gave her music player to Dreamy Bones, as the color combo really works well for her.

And she's out of the salon!

Her hair came out pretty well. The main thing I don't like is that MGAE coats these dolls' short hair with gel to the point that it feels like a helmet, so they have to KNOW we're going to wash that crap out. Yet then they style the hair so it doesn't lay quite right without the gel. UGH. She's got one lock that's slightly longer than the rest and I need to mess with it eventually.

I initially hated the pink shoes, but then I saw that they're flocked and I caved. I love them now.

The plaid of the jacket is what the shoes actually match.

Because it sure isn't anything else.

These hats hardly ever look good. Sigh.

And one final pic with her purse.

She's a really gorgeous doll. I love her outfit and the color scheme did grow on me. I don't think she needed the pink, but I don't hate it.

I just want them to do more short-haired girls without having to shellac their hair.

REVIEW: LOL OMG Winter Chill Big Wig

Oh, poor Big Wig. I actually found her ages ago at Target and never opened her until now. The Winter Chill line only more recently showed up in my stores except for the one random Big Wig in Target. I kept watching Camp Cutie on Amazon to try to catch her on sale and then I was going to review them together, but I never saw her go on sale. Big Wig sat and waited for weeks until I finally saw Camp for about $24 and grabbed her.

Tot doll, brush, stand, shoebox, hatbox and 2 garment bags.

You know, the usual.

Here's what was inside.

I never put the fur piece on her. I think it's ridiculous.

The jacket had two tiny silver "buttons" on it and...not one but BOTH fell off when I put it on her. Seriously, MGAE. Sigh.

She's already looking sexy.

I know the Karen Moms of the world complain about these dolls, but this is clearly an adult. The younger ones get a little questionable sometimes, but these are adult women. I love these two outfit pieces.

Oh, yeah, definitely sexy.

There is something about business-sexy that I just love.

I think this is supposed to be a blazer-like dress, but honestly, it's so short, it looks like she forgot pants...but in a good way. I like it.

I shot these next few photos tonight. All the ones above this have her hair straight from the box. These next ones are all post gel-removal.

Here you can see her earrings and cool ring. I wish they did more rings.

Sexy shoes.

And one final shot. Washing her hair lessened the volume a little, but it's still pretty "big."

I like her. She's not one of my faves, but she's pretty awesome. I love all the outfit, though I wish the jacket/dress buttons were put on more securely. MGAE definitely wins the award for most detail of any doll company, but it too often comes at the high price of questionable quality.
