REVIEW: LOL OMG Kuromi

Not a full review. I'm behind, so it's not like other people haven't shown her off a million times.

I got her for two reasons. One, I really love the new faces. Two, I really really love her main hair color.

I don't have a doll with this hair color and I'm not sure I've ever seen it before.

Gorgeous as she is, I wish they'd done larger versions of some of the new characters instead. Doe and Skyla would be amazing in OMG form. I think the new style is strong enough that the initial offerings didn't all have to be collabs or celebs.

MGAE Reveals Part 2 & MONSTER HIGH Reveals

More new stuff to talk about!

Not going in any priority order, but I scrolled back on Youloveit to where I'd stopped last time, so we'll begin with more Yummiland.

YUMMILAND:

-The two purse dolls are cute but nothing I'd buy.

-The color change series (different from the Sour Sweeties) are also cute, but only Gwen Gummybear is really grabbing my attention. I wonder if she's related to Gabi from the Sour Sweeties. I could maybe see myself getting the snocone one, too.

-Yummiland brings us two Halloween and two Christmas dolls this year. My faves are Halle Candy Cane and of course both Halloween ones.

LOL OMG:

-OMG has some stuff I'm not interested in, so I'm not going into detail, but I have to talk about the weird Powerpuff Girls dolls. Blossom and Buttercup really aren't bad, but who hates Bubbles? Why make her cross-eyed? Such a strange choice. That said, I'm absolutely getting Buttercup, but not because I care about Powerpuff at all. It's because she reminds me of Veronica from Archie comics.

RAINBOW HIGH:

-The Junior High band dolls are all pretty cute. I like the Skyler doll a lot but hate her outfit. Sunny is pretty solid, as is Bella. It's really Amaya that's the only weak one for me. Their problem is that everything else RH is putting out at the same time blows these out of the water.

-There are 3 new create dolls. You know, the all-white ones that you add color to. Nothing really special here, although the black girl looks a lot like Storm.

-The strongest reveal from yesterday was the Sparkle & Shine new characters. Four new characters with the lava lamp-style legs. I've seen so many people bitch about these that I wonder if they like Novi Stars. Because a lot of MGAE fans certainly have nostalgia for Novis, yet they had these same leg features they whine about on RH. Yes, Novis were a more fantasy line, but let's be real. That's exactly what RH has become. These haven't been realistic since they abandoned Poppy and barely remember Jade and Ruby. Personally, I think skipping an overall well-designed doll just because of articulation or a leg feature is silly. And these are four very well-designed dolls. MISTY is the strongest one for me. I love almost everything about her. I do think she should have better shoes though. But her entire look aside from that and that mirror and purse? Love. She's like RH Uma. WHITNEY wasn't my second fave at first, but now she is. There's just something about her entire look. I adore the makeup the most, but her outfit and hair are also stellar. Then we've got pinky-purple LEILANI, whose hair is her best feature. She's tame outfit and makeup-wise, but I do like the purse and phone case a lot. DAWN is the fourth one and she has an epic makeup style. Her outfit is really cute and I love the backpack. What holds her back is her boring hairstyle. Pretty color but just boring. Very excited about these though!

MONSTER HIGH:

-Skulltimate 7 is an oasis line, which made me very annoyed that Cleo was left out of it. But the outfits turned out to be generic beachwear, so I'm less annoyed now. All three have the potential to be pretty, based on the box art, but Jin is the only one I'll probably get. I dunno. I may weaken on Lagoona, but I don't really need another Lagoona.

-Mattel announced two SDCC exclusive dolls yesterday. I'm annoyed that the best Elvira is one I'll never get. I love that winking face. I still hate that they body-shamed the doll by giving her a breast reduction, but I would have tried for this doll if it wasn't an exclusive. A lot of people love Sweet Screams Twyla, but she has one of my current most hated motifs: dripping crap. Cotton candy does not melt like that. There was no need for all this goo on her. Her hair and the dress are cool, but she's an easy pass for me.

-You know what Twyla isn't a pass though? Buried Secrets Series 3! I wasn't into the Clawdeen we've already seen at all, but Twyla looks adorable with a sleek updo and her mask is excellent. Cleo is also a must have for me. You can always get me with an Anubis mask. But she's also gorgeous hair and makeup-wise. And I'll probably get Lagoona, too. I guess I just like these updos. I also like her makeup and full water legs. And her mask. And cute shorts. Yeah, everyone except Clawdeen it is. I guess I need another Lagoona after all! So maybe there's hope for oasis as well.

That wraps it up for now. We're gonna be broke, y'all.

REVIEW: LOL OMG Swag (New)

I've had this girl a few days now, but life gets in the way.

I was surprised that I wanted one of these updated main four OMG characters, but there's something I really like about the cut of Swag's outfit.

She comes with a useless comb that can be useless in 3 different ways. I'd rather have a stand than this huge hunk of plastic.

Her earrings I hate. You know me and being picky about round earrings.

The glasses...well...

I like the style, but they don't fit right. To cover the bottom of her eyes, they sit below her nose. The lenses should have been a smidge bigger.

The main thing about this new foursome is that they have transforming outfits. Swag can go from looking awesome to...her boxing match, I guess.

Much better.

I'm such a sucker for longer skirts and I love the layered effect.

Her shoes are super cute, too.

I may have to revisit her hair when I get more free time. I washed the gel but didn't get quite all of it. She didn't have much, but you know MGAE and their need to have gel in at least one place on every doll in existence.

She's cute and she'll look good with my others. Not sure if I'll get another OMG doll ever again, as I haven't liked anything else they've done with the newer releases, so she's a good one to end on.

REVIEW: LOL OMG Wildflower

This one is definitely outside my usual favorite type, but I looooooooove her.

Hers is the only brush I kept. Love that milky pink.

Boxes. This time I remembered.

THOSE SHOES.

Gorgeous jewelry.

Adorable purse.

Sunglasses I actually love.

This girl has it all.

I love these pants incredibly, but another part of me hates that they completely over the gorgeous shoes.

I was also really scared of breaking the butterfly earrings. They're very delicate, so be careful!

These have to be one of the best pairs of doll pants ever.

CUTE.

I didn't try to take the corset off. I'm guessing it comes off. All the girls seem to have at least one extra layer of clothing.

Beautiful makeup.

Her bangs and long bang bits are both gelled. So is the curl at the bottom of her ponytail. Again, I'm not washing it out. I'd hate to lose the curl.

She's perfection.

My ability to realize her glasses are crooked before taking pictures is less than perfection.

Ha, now the glasses are even worse. Ah, well.

Anyway, if you love that pink, ribbons, lace, butterflies, girly girl style, this doll is perfect for you. And if you're like me and that's not usually your style, she's somehow still perfect for me. I think she's one of the best OMGs they've ever done.

REVIEW: LOL OMG Jams

I love this girl's big blue Stormer curls, so she was a must have.

Stand 'n' stuff.

Ugh, I forgot to take a photo of the boxes. Ah, well. At least they're visible in the boxed pic.

That's a lot of gold!

Love that purse. Definitely a unique design.

Her outfit is awesome.

Her hair is awesome.

Her makeup is awesome.

Awesome.

I think it's dolls like this that frustrate Rainbow High fans, because we'd love these curls on RH dolls, too.

Yeah, that's too much. Love the choker and bracelets. Earrings gotta go.

I'm not sure if both bracelets are supposed to be on one wrist, but I decided to continue my Jem amusement and like this, they remind me of Clash.

What's under the main outfit. This is cute, too.

Cute but I'd rather see her makeup.

The spiked headband is why the gold earrings would have been too much. I definitely prefer the headband.

LOVE her. Way more than I expected to.

TOTALLY GIRLFRIENDS.

REVIEW: LOL OMG Victory

I was very happy to see the rest of LOL OMG Series 8 put up on Amazon. Pose went up a few days ago, but she's the only one from this series that I didn't want.

Starting with my favorite.

Stand, brush, magazine.

Accessories still in boxes/wrapping.

And opened.

Her hair does have gel on the thin bangs, the V bangs, and a bit in the back at the place where the ends of the pigtail twists come out. I'm not washing any of it out because it looks perfect.

I'm not taking the jacket off because I know the struggle it would be to reattach that collar piece.

This is what's under the skirt.

Her makeup is gorgeous.

She reminds me of an OMG version of Musa from Winx Club. Musa even had hair streaks in a similar shade of orange during her Sirenix transformation. Not saying Victory is a copy, but I like the Musa nostalgia she provides.

I don't like the earrings. The design doesn't suit her overall look, and I think silver was the wrong color choice. Any of her highlight colors (orange, yellow, light blue) would have worked nicely.

These are pretty fun, but I'm not covering up her makeup or blocking her pigtails.

Her orange gloves are soft rubber and go on nicely.

From the back. Love the orange streaks.

The stands come with two clips, each in a different shape. There's a round shape that works better if the clip is going over heavier clothing. Then there's a second one that works better if there are less layers of fabric involved. You can see that shape in the picture of the stand near the beginning of the review.

Absolutely adore this girl. She's my third fave from the entire line, bumping Sketches down to #4. I made some space on my coffee table display to add her.

REVIEW: LOL OMG Fierce Cleopatra

I refused to pay $100 for this doll. I was a bit annoyed with the blurb on the back, which almost alluded to the doll BEING Cleopatra, and that held me off on purchasing, because this is nothing like a historical doll, so why would they even? I saw her in TJ Maxx for $60 and after seeing her in person, I knew I wanted one because she was pretty, but I still refused to pay full price. Or even $60. I bided my time and got her on Amazon for $43.95. That I'm content with.

Upon another reading, the blurb is still a bit odd. But whatever. MGAE aren't the most humble company in existence.

The back of the box is pretty awesome.

And the front is boring in comparison, so she was definitely coming out of there.

Free from the bigger box pieces.

Now almost instantly, I knew there was a massive design flaw here. Someone with apparently zero practicality decided to make those arm cuffs both out of softer plastic AND slit. They will not stay on.

If you're going to do arm cuffs, they need to either be harder plastic with a slit OR they need to be softer plastic but a solid piece so they slide up the arm and stay there. The softer rubber helps it cling in place. But you can't use stretchy soft rubber and have it slit. These are so wide open they fall off if her arms aren't in permanent adoration mode. Not a good design quality for a $100 doll.

Her hair is minorly gelled, but I didn't bother removing it. It's squished under her headband anyway.

I love her face, minor makeup imperfections and all.

Ah, yes, the bob haircut. Behold this rarity of the doll world. (Sigh.)

I love the braids, but if you have both moved forward, they block the earrings and that's unacceptable.

The gorgeous earrings are my favorite detail.

The denim kilt is not remotely a favorite. White. This would have looked awesome in white.

I like the shoes more than I expected to.

This thing is enormous!

The elastic seemed a bit small, but it worked okay. I took off her headband and earrings and it went right on. I was nervous about removing the earrings, but they turned out to be quite easy to handle.

*adoration noises*

Really sticks out in the back, too.

And that is it.

Overall, I like the doll, but she's not a $100 doll. No way. I'm glad I got one for less than half price. Some details are nice, but the complete failure of the arm cuffs is pretty deplorable.

I'm naming mine Nefertari. I'm tired of everyone always using Cleopatra. She wasn't even Egyptian, y''all. Come on. Stop obsessing over her.

After these photos, she joined my shrine space in the center and she looks awesome there with my other Egyptian dolls. (That aren't MH. Cleo and Nefera are with the other MHers.)
