MONTH IN REVIEW: April 2020

Month in Review April 2020, AKA: Hey, Look, It's Bears.

Seriously, that's all I've got for you. Everything else you already saw in reviews. Fairykins, Kitten Catfe. I do have one review planned, but I don't have all the products in hand yet.

So let's look at some bears.

I wasn't sure I'd end up with a Willamena after trying out two from QVC and sending both back, but despite not being high on the choosing list with my stockist, I did manage to end up with the only Willamena she got in that I liked!

I haven't paid enough attention to the poor girl, but at least she made it to my shelves after all.

Gum Drop was an unplanned purchase. This one just jumped right out at me and screamed "Look at these patterns on my face! BUY ME." So I did.

Getting twin Reas was also completely unplanned. He showed up on QVC and I ordered two, knowing full well he'd also be at my stockist soon, but this was my most wanted for the year, so I went for it anyway. I sent one of the QVC pair back and enjoyed spending time with the QVC Rea while awaiting pics of my stockist's selection. I ended up falling for one of hers and boom, I have two now.

This is the one from QVC. A little older-looking, I think. You can really change their expressions by moving the white brows around.

He got a lot of love during some of my most exhausting days of work.

Rea is a binturong, by the way. Look them up. They're cool.

And this is the one I chose from my stockist, who has slightly wider-set eyes and a more youthful, skeptical expression.

The next one shown should be Blackbeary, who should have arrived last week, but appears to be taking a really slow (and scarily unupdated) trip through the postal system. I hope he gets here soon.

But instead, meet Idris the dragon from the Kaycee Bears collection. Every now and then, I skim through the Kaycee listings on ebay and I saw this guy for only $94.99. His retail is a whopping $356.95!!! Being a risk-taker, I made an offer of $75...and it was accepted. Best deal ever. He is super adorable and I love his colors.

This beauty is also a Kaycee Bears creation. This is Ariel. Idris was actually bigger than I imagined, while Ariel is smaller. Funny how that works.

She was another great deal, also at $75 with a retail of $158.95.

I'm a complete sucker for orange bears, so she's been on my wishlist for a while.

And that is it for April. I do have one newer item review planned and I might do reviews on a couple older pieces as they arrive. I've also started collecting something I may do an overview on once I get more of them in hand. And there will be more bears. Of course.

CAVE CLUB Book Images!

Images from the first Cave Club graphic novel are up on Amazon!

Roaralai is destined to be my favorite.

The art style is a bit odd.

Like the jawlines are really unattractive.

Roaralai already bringing the expressions.

And keeping it up.

Tella's gonna be a scatterbrain, isn't she?

OVERVIEW: Lanard Fairykins 2012 Part 2

I did an overview on the 2012 version of Lanard's Fairykins here:
https://venivididolli.blogspot.com/2016/07/la-dee-spora-dandi-and-voltessa-lanard.html

Well, I learned recently that they've been redone again! They're the same molds, characters and colors, but the faces are different, the skirts are new materials, and the wings are now material instead of plastic.

I picked up the set of four on ebay and they arrived today.

The faces are the same on all four new dolls, whereas they were unique before. The main difference now is eye color.

Voltessa here is the same basic idea, although she's lost her attitude, because she's got the same big smile the others all do. Her hair is a slightly different color and she's a shade or so more tan.

The new skirt I actually like much better than the old one. The fabric wings are a pretty nice touch. She's the only one where I like both wing styles equally.

La-Dee is the least different-looking with her new face, but her wings are drastically different.

And mine has them upside down. I tried turning them around, but no. I might track down another with them on right someday.

I think I prefer the original skirt, though the new one is cute, too.

I definitely prefer the original wings.

I think she was a bit darker tan in the original version.

Dandi is also darker in the original, though her hair is lighter.

The new one is cute, but she's even more Tink-like with the generic happy face. I like the sassy face way more.

The new wings are okay, but I prefer the originals.

I like the new skirt though. It's transparent vinyl strips, which is cool.

Spora has a similar skirt style, though hers is fabric.

I think the new face suits her best. I love the eyes closed, but I get the same energy from her with them open.

I like the new wings, but nothing beats those mushroom ones.

I hung both sets up on display on my wall and they're adorable. Glad to have both!

Kitten Catfe Series 2

When Series 2 popped up on ebay from a seller in NC that I've bought from before, I scooped a bunch up, then ended up going back next paycheck for the other remaining two.

I had no idea at the time that I was buying from a toy reviewer, but apparently yes? I haven't bothered to look into it.

I'm not sure if S2 is out yet. It's not like I can go shopping!

Anyway, this is Catalina Creme.

She's got an old shoe mold (but colored well) and a new outfit mold.

Her glasses are a repeat style, but at least they're the cute one.

The back of the outfit doesn't stay together well, just like a lot of LOLs.

Her hair is awesome though.

The fabric piece she comes with can be worn like a top, which I like.

Or like a skirt, as it's shown in her art.

I like it both ways, but prefer it as a top.

Here's Cece Mew.

Her outfit definitely looks like Series 1, but her hair is a brand new mold.

I love the design of the mold and the coloring!

Cora Kitty has a brand new outfit style, as well as new hair.

She's a nice blue. I like how bright her hair looks against her blue fur.

I don't care for the fabric piece as a top with this outfit though. And obviously it's not meant to be a skirt, because she's got shorts on.

Here's the back of her hair.

Jasmint Joe has one of the best names of this entire line. It's adorable.

I like her smirking face and the color combo of purple, mint and white.

Mint highlights.

She's got a cute camera.

Mine is sadly missing her tail. It wasn't included and the seller didn't address my asking about it.

The one thing I don't like is her boot color. It doesn't match at all.

Jojo Jazz has a neat new hairstyle. I love that two of these new styles are so short.

Cute from the back, too.

Layla Latte is my second favorite from this series. There's no black cat, so the gray one of course is going to be a fave!

She has the one-piece swimsuit on, just under her skirt.

I'm not mentioning the character descriptions, as you can read them yourselves on the website and get all the details, but I will say that Layla loves museums and that makes me love her even more.

Lexi Spresso looks like she should be in Series 1. I do like the pearly pink hair though.

She's definitely cute. They all are, even the ones I don't like as much.

This is my favorite of the new hair molds. It's so cute.

This is Lola Bell.

I love Lola's kind of melony shade. It looks great with her hair and eye colors.

This lovely lady is Lulu Affogato. Another great name and I adore her fur color.

She's got the cool hair mold that Coco and Jennnipurr have, but without the color highlights. It works just fine all pink though.

Mocha Lisa. Definitely another name favorite.

I love her entire color scheme, except the purple thing.

Which is why I gave her Jojo's orange one.

I only took this one photo of her, but this is hands down my favorite of this series, possibly of the line. I LOVE her.

This is the fabulous Pawlena Purr.

Last one! This is Pursella Taylor.

I love her darker purple hair. I just wish they hadn't been so random with her other color choices.

That's all I've got for S2. I don't have any of the Meowbles, because they only were selling the dolls.

Kitten Catfe Series 1

I don't have all of Series 1, but I'm only missing 2, so I figured I'd post them before tackling Series 2.

I've already reviewed Kitten Catfe, so I'm not going to go over those aspects. I just want to show each doll and her accessories.

This is Carmela La Creme.

Carmela is the only doll to have patches. Others have paws in different colors, but only Carmela has them on her arms and legs. Or rather, one arm and one leg.

The shoe molds are all shared, as are the clothing molds. I didn't take the time to match up all the same shirts, but I did do the shoes.

Carmela's match Purrissa's.

Next we've got Coco Mocha. She's one of my main favorites that I have of S1.

The first batch of S1 was almost all white cats, so I really love the ones that aren't. Coco is a lovely shade of light brown.

She has the smirking mouth that's my favorite.

The paint detail on her hair is awesome.

And she has my favorite shoe style and bag, too!

Her shoe twin is Fifi Faye, one of the two I'm missing.

This is Ginger Glitz. A lot of the names are either coffee or kitty-related, but some of them aren't. Ginger's one of those.

Ginger and Kitty Purrcino are very similar. Down to almost the same shoes. The shades of pink are just a bit different.

Ginger is the only cat from the first batch of Series 1 that is not mostly naturally-colored. She's a light pink.

I got Jennipurr Joe today!

Jennipurr has the cutest glasses, but they don't fit right with her hair mold.

They look pretty cute on Luna!

Like Coco, Jennipurr has color highlights in her hair.

Jennipurr and Luna are shoe twins. They have sneakers with socks coming up high. I love that Jennipurr's are painted in two different colors. Very reminiscent of the old 80s trend to layer the socks in different colors.

Here's Kitty Purrcino again.

Ginger and Kitty showing off their hair highlights.

Luna Latte!

Luna (and Tabbytha) have my favorite eye style + hairstyle combination. I love the giant eyes with the tiny pigtails.

Luna and Mimi in their not as cute as Jennipurr's glasses.

Here's Mimi Meow. She was my first one.

She has little slip-on shoes. Her shoe twin is Purradonna, who I don't have. (Even though she's my favorite! Argh.)

Mimi has some cream-colored highlights on her fur.

Purrissa Lee.

Not one of my favorites, although she does have my favorite eye style.

Tabbytha Fluffikins.

Yes, really.

Her name perfectly suits her though.

She's my favorite from the first batch of S1 and one of my top favorites. I love Luna more overall, but Tabbytha has the best eye color of the series.

Different eye styles.

And finally, Veronicat Meow. I like her purple highlights, but she and Mimi are so similar.

She and Tabbytha have the same boots.

And here are all my Meowbles! I'm only missing two, so I'm betting one comes with Purradonna and one comes with Fifi.
