REVIEW: Monster High Stitched in Style Frankie

I received my Stitched in Style Frankie from Amazon yesterday.

Back of the box.

I bought this doll with mixed feelings. I love the doll herself. Her hair and headdress are fantastic. Love the bustier. Love the shoes. Love the arm chains.

However, I hate this skirt. It's a lumpy, ugly mess.

Beautiful makeup and hair!

I really don't get why they thought this was a good idea. It looks like a wadded up lump of plaid fabric with chains around it.

Thankfully, my plan worked.

I spun the skirt around to hide the lumps in the back, like the ugliest bustle ever.

I looked into moving the chains, but they're stitched on, so the clasp will just have to be at the front.

Despite my hatred of the skirt, I still think she's worth the money.

She's that beautiful.

Her hair is nice quality.

Love the complex headdress and her hairstyle.

Stunning!

She definitely ranks up there with my fave G1 Frankies.

Overall, I love every single thing except the lumpy skirt. I would have liked the skirt had it been sleek. It's the bunched up look of the fabric that doesn't work for me at all.

Bonus photos of Vampire Heart in the box.

I deboxed her and took pics, but I didn't like how any of them came out, so I'm just sticking these here.

Back of the box story.

She's another great G1-style doll, though I have to admit, I prefer Frankie. There are epic details in this Laura and she's gorgeous, but I really adore this new Frankie.

Dolly Insider's "Friday Dolly Questions" Part 7

#37: Do You Have a Dolly Budget?

Nope! I just roll with things. Installment plans like Affirm or Paypal's Pay in 4 help a lot on bigger orders. I pay them off ahead of time to cut down on any interest accrued. The only time I really try to stick with a budget is the end of the year, because we always vacation in December, and I need to make sure my bills for the month are paid off before we leave. So I basically need to pay off an entire month of bills ahead of time. That's why I've been cutting back lately and being pickier. I like other MH dolls, but do I really need more Draculauras, Clawdeens, Lagoonas and Frankies? No. That's why I've been very picky on those characters in particular. I like Amped Up and Skulltimate Neon Frankie, but the upcoming "Pride" one (quoted only because I don't know their official name) is way better and I'd rather my money go there.

#38: Do You Keep Your Doll's Original Box or Do You Throw It Away?

I don't have that kind of space! Keeping every doll box would mean getting another bedroom to put them all in. I do keep the boxes and shippers of any Skullector doll and I keep the boxes on my Azones just in case I decide to sell. I also keep boxes that make nice storage or are particularly cool.

#39: If You Could Visit Any Doll Company, Which One Would You Visit?

Honestly, I'm not sure I would. I'd be trying to sneak off and steal prototypes or something. I definitely couldn't do the big companies, because I couldn't keep from criticizing.

#40: What Doll Collaboration Is Your Favorite?

Oh, man, I don't know. I'm not a fashion person, so those are mostly lost on me. Love the CreativeSoul Disney line. I love the Sailor Moon and h. Naoto Pullips, though I only have Horizon (Spider) and Adsiltia now. And of course, there's the classic Barbie Benetton line.

#41: If Your Doll Was a Human, Who Would You Like to Hang Out With?

A lot of mine are dolls of existing characters and I'm thinking that's not the answer they're going for. I think Roslin would be a good choice. She'd be fun.

#42: Do You Create Stories Featuring Your Dolls?

I used to love to do picfics, but that's when I had a looooooooooooot more free time. And space.

NEWS: Magic Mixies Pixlings FAYE & AMBER

Who's ready for new Pixlings?!!!!!

We knew there were listings for Series 1, Wave 2 on Amazon Canada, but now we've got names and pics thanks to my friend's hunting skills.

The bottles are similar, but updated to show the newbies on the art.

This is Faye the fairy. She's been mentioned in the show if anyone watches it. I haven't checked for new eps lately.

Her gem is kinda lime greenish. Easy to spot.

And this is Amber the dragon. Likely my new favorite.

Her gem is appropriately amber-colored.

Release date is mentioned as 1/22/24 on License 2 Play, which is where these photos are from. Amazon Canada says December 1st. We'll see who's right.

REVIEW: New Style Hairmazing Part 3

My Walmart by home is starting to reset and they put out some of the new Hairmazing.

I was able to finally get this smiley girl that completes the foursome of new casual wear dolls.

She's really cute.

I also picked up this lovely princess.

On Walmart's website, she has bright blue hair, but the actual doll has incredible hot pink hair.

Her dress is awesome.

I wasn't planning on buying another mermaid, but I couldn't resist this girl in person.

Her outfit is great and I love the hair streaks.

Really cute face. She's one of my favorite Hairmazing mermaids now.

This shows the difference in the pinks of their hair.

These two were $5.88 each, but the casual doll was only $4.97. These dolls remain a great bargain for the price. Their hair isn't amazing quality (despite the name), but everything else is excellent for a cheap doll.

REVIEW: Monster High Signature V2 CLAWDEEN

I have been having the worst time trying to get the new Draculaura. I never see her in stock and I check multiple times a day. I have a hard time believing they've sold as many as they say they have when I've never once gotten a chance at her. Uggggggghhhhhhh.

But on the plus side, that means I can enjoy my new Clawdeen without her being overshadowed by Laura.

I think a lot of people kinda blew this doll off when they saw how awesome Laura was but take a good look at her.

The art is really cute.

She comes with a translucent backpack with a dangly charm, a water bottle, an energy bar, an adorable wrapped sandwich, a brush, and a Trapper Keeper-style binder.

I've taken to calling these new sigs "School's Out," due to their: a) being updated looks for the existing sigs, b) coming with these Trapper Keepers, and c) being improvements on the original looks. (I adore School's Out Frankie and Clawdeen in particular, but every doll except Lagoona was an improvement in my opinion. Even the Laura that came with Clawd was an improvement, because she's my favorite Laura doll. It's only the outfit I hate.)

I love how almost all the accessories fit (or mostly fit) into the backpack.

The new Crescent is sooooooooo cute! I love him.

She is ADORABLE.

I love the outfit update. It's very G3 Clawdeen, but a little more fashiony than her previous sig.

I'm thrilled the glasses are back. They should be with every release.

I'm too lazy to remove the jacket, but you can see the necklace and top just fine like this.

The boots are simple but cute.

Adore the new makeup!

Oh, and the hair is a massive upgrade. It's fabulous.

Absolutely in love with this new Clawdeen! I think she's well worth getting.

REVIEW: Skulltimate Secrets Neon Frights GHOULIA

I ordered Ghoulia from Target and she arrived a few days ago.

I really had some hope we'd get more red this time, but no. I'm resigning myself to her being pink now.

The glasses were down over her eyes, but I pulled them up to check for flaws.

Locker door.

This is surprisingly cute as is.

She's adorable. I love the bolder makeup, though I did also like the muted stuff the signature has.

These are cute.

And these are not cute. Not one of her better pairs of glasses. I'm leaving them off. They don't look good and they don't fit very well either. Ghoulia can wear contacts today.

I love that skirt!

The bag is my favorite piece here.

The earrings are okay. I wish they didn't stick out so far.

This is cute, but not something I'd keep on her.

We will never speak of these again.

Love the laptop!

I love the cup o' brains.

I wasn't going to change sig Ghoulia, but these clothes are way cuter than hers, so here we are.

I'm not sure I'd buy another Ghoulia. I'm happy with these two and I'm trying to cut back. MH has barely been around and I have so many already! I'm going to have to rearrange my shelf once I get the new Clawdeen (should be later today) and Draculaura (whenever she comes back in stock). So I'm trying to stick to my faves and newbies from here on out. Trying. I will likely fail. Heh.

Overall, I think they did a great job with this new Ghoulia. She's different than her sig and her clothes are almost all good pieces.
