REVIEW: B*Pack Series 2 Gal XE

B*Pack has definitely had some hurdles. There was a several month break between when they first surfaced and when they became more available. Then three extra sets with rooted hair characters were supposed to come out, but only one ever did.

Listings appeared on Amazon for some of the new Series 2 sets with only sketchy art to go by. I pre-ordered a few, cancelled some, and right now I think I only have one pre-order remaining for the Series 2 basic line.

I was surprised they shipped the Gal XE deluxe set because she never did get photos added to her listing.

Back of the box.

UPS really beat the hell out of this package. The box arrived almost totally flattened.

It was a very basic box. Very thin cardboard with the packets loose inside. Definitely far cheaper packaging than the first series.

Instruction book, checklist, and packets.

So you get the doll, a brush, her ID card, her keychain with two removable charms, and a hair plug that you put in her head and then attach to the keychain.

There's how that works.

Now the doll is pretty but there is not $15 here. The single packs are $10 and that's way more reasonable. The first series single packs came with so much more than this doll does. I'm not sure if the one 1st series rooted hair doll had as little as this, but some hair isn't worth the extra money. There's no extra outfit, no storage box. And the giant bald spot on top of her head is not great.

One of my biggest disappointments is that the clip-on accessories have nothing to do with space. They're a frickin' hair dryer and lipstick! Why even name her Gal XE if you're not going to give her any space-related anything? Art on paper packets isn't enough.

This first side has the dolls with molded plastic hair that will come in the Series 2 regular line.

Ellie Viral and WiFi Wendy are my favorites. I'm also interested in Cottage Cora (hilarious name) and Dottie Com.

On the top are the four with rooted hair. The bottom pair have molded hair with ponytail plugs. You can actually see the bottom pair on Amazon right now but I couldn't find any more of the rooted hair girls. I hope Frank EGirl gets made!

Preppy Goths. Yeah, right. That annoys me because you see so few black goths in toy form. But that doll is neither goth nor preppy. She's a massive disappointment. Ellie Viral at least looks witchy goth so they got one right.

Better angle on those bottom ones.

So yeah, not impressed with Gal XE. I don't see the money here at all. She's pretty but she's not great. Now we wait to see if anything else even comes out!
