New Fashionistas!

Walmart had a great display of the newest Fashionistas and I adopted these two, then found the Hello Kitty clothes in the stocking stuffer section.

I need to go back for more dolls. I feel the addiction creeping back. I think it was last Christmas that I bought a bunch of these.

Lots more pics in my Flickr:

  1. I found stuff about the Star Darlings marketing and how the dolls were made, as well as a press release when the line was first announced.

Going by comments from the franchise's creator and the marketers there was a big emphasis on music as well as the rest, and since the books focused on the band members first that might be why the cartoon, toys, and merch also did, for brand recognition and to keep the music emphasis, as well as the difficulty of juggling an ensemble cast. Good Wish Gone Bad, released after the first 12, focused on at least one band member, while Stealing Starlight focused on all five. It feels like a conscious decision to have those 5 as a 'core' group inside the group of 12.

I'm glad Cassie and Piper got dolls, at least, but I'd love to see everyone else, too. (Villains need more dolls XD)

The entire franchise seems to have been shelved, though Shana Zappa said on Twitter back in April that it's not canceled. I hope she's right! https://twitter.com/ShanaZappa/status/850063710265589760

  2. Sad news--I contacted Jakks Pacific, who made the Star Darlings toys, and asked this: "I have a question about Disney's Star Darlings franchise, which you make toys for. Will there ever be Starland dolls for Cassie and Piper, or dolls at all for Astra, Adora, Tessa, Clover, and Gemma? I know Cassie has a Starland outfit doll in the UK, but I live in the US."

Their response was "Thank you so much for your support for our Star Darlings line, unfortunately at this time we are no longer running production on that brand."

With no books since January 2017, shows since late 2016, or dolls I think it's safe to say the franchise is canceled. :(

  3. I also asked Jakks "Thank you for the response! I'm sad to learn the dolls won't be produced anymore. Is there a reason dolls of the other Star Darlings or the supporting cast weren't made?" but they said they do not have that information. :(
