In their worst move ever, Just Play has decided to release their new Kaleidoscope line for Hairdorables missing Emily.
While we never knew the exact details, we knew Emily, Brit, Sallee and Rayne were slated for appearance in an upcoming Hairmazing line.
Thanks to this item listing from BJ's, we now can see the line is apparently only Noah, Sallee and Rayne.
I'm fine with Sallee and Rayne being there, as they were two of the four teased. But Noah? AGAIN?! She didn't need to take a spot from Brit or Emily. I would have been much happier if Brit had been there, even if it still would have been wrong.
Emily is one of the only characters I can think of in these modern days of big head big eye dolls that is unarguably East Asian. A lot of the others have the same eye shape as the default or one that's also used by white characters, so there's never a clear distinction. I have been looking forward to her joining the Hairmazing line to add much-needed representation to it, but Just Play has failed me and it just plain looks racist to remove her from the line. Not happy about this at all.
Ugh, we got Sallee and Rayne, but NO Emily! I really wanted Sallee AND Emily(they are my two favorites that I have never, EVER been able to get)! I also really like Rayne, but I'm kinda irked by how her hair is basically all blue with just a few colored streaks. As much as I adore cool colors, the Hairmazing line is kind of dominated by them. I really would have liked a Britt, Kat, or a Phoebe.
ReplyDeleteAnd I guess Noah is the flagship girl, but it's such a small/new line - do we really NEED 3 at this point?
Also, I would have really loved a Skylar - I didn't get into the line until 5 because, and I hate to admit it, I'm kind-of an articulation snob. I was even as a little girl. I ruined lots of my dolls trying to transplant heads onto different bodies. But, I had some extra bucks one day and got a Hairdorable. And it was Grecian Skylar. Now, not only do I love brown hair with colored streaks, but ancient Greek history is one of my "one true loves", so I was hooked, articulation be damned!
Sorry for the long, overly verbose comment. :)
Skylar would have been great. Hairmazing definitely lacks in the more natural hair color department and she could have helped with that.
DeleteI was surprised by how much I loved the Masquerade line. I initially wasn't impressed because some of the outfits looked cheap and had odd color choices, but I ended up loving most of them. I'm always a sucker for ancient history themes, too!
I love anything about ancient history, especially when it's coupled with dolls. I really wanted the Egyptian Kali(So, SO HAPPY she was not called Cleopatra!!!) to go with my Skylar.
ReplyDeleteIt would have been awesome if they had dome a whole history theme.
But, I would have adored a set based on the greek Gods. ^^
Did these ever get released anywhere but at BJs Clubs, in store only?
ReplyDeleteNot that I know of.
