Ha!

If you bitch too much about MH G3 being "childish," you summon that Cleo/Deuce hideousness.

Seriously, there's no blaming G2 for this. I've seen several people try. The clothes and Deuce's face are G2 style, but that Cleo face is definitely G1. She had bigger eyes in G2. This was simply a poor design, even worse than anything G3 has done. The only decent part is the gold snake belt/harness thingy she has on. (And maybe her shoes. Can't see them well enough to say.)

I think it's funny that "childish" is the biggest complaint about G3 and then the stans get this, which is far more cheap and childish than G3's designs.

  1. To me, Deuce is a worse offender. G3 proved that he can work a mostly-green getup. This... is not working. Also hot damn, another example for Deuce having the biggest glowup out of all of them this 'Gen'. G1 Deuce just doesn't work for me any more. With his teeny flimsy snakes and his kinda vacant expression. My poor boy.

    1. G1 really does look weird now, doesn't he? I so prefer the green skin and the new characterization where he actually HAS a character.

    2. I am one of the few who still love G1 Deuce. Especially his facesculpt. Like Cleo, whose OG sculpt is reminiscent of the Old Egyptian human drawings, especially her profile, G1 Deuce had the full lips, bone structure and chin dimple that reminded me so much of classic greek sculptures. He has sort of this pretty boy almost feminine features that I found refreshing. I do like his G3 look as it is more "monster-y" but I did enjoyed the subtle nods for their origins.

  2. Well I doubt any new G1 doll design will be as good as MH during 2010-2012 as most of the designers are new while other's left the brand, plus Mattel wants the brand to be even more kid friendly. Plus most of the designers don't follow fashion trends or know what teenagers wear that's why most things can get too childish or too mature sometimes.

    1. Unlike others, I actually think they're doing fine with most of G3 and that the "childish" complaints are unfounded. I don't think 15-year-olds should dress like college students. Leave that level of unrealistic for RH. I just find it amusing that one of the G1-themed sets actually is all the things people whine that G3 is.

  3. (this ended up being lengthier than i thought lol, i have a lot of thoughts on this topic and have been struggling to figure out how to comment on this post earlier until today when i fixed my browser)
from what i’ve seen, most of the genuine criticism towards G3 seems to be less about “age appropriateness” being childish and more about how it seems they’re “playing it safe” or just being mainstream fashion-wise. i think it’s a fair sentiment, especially since there’s already a lack of dolls in overtly alternative fashion. i don’t want MH dolls to dress super mature lol but i was expecting something more on the lines of alt fashion, which was a bit more noticeable in G3 and most of the redesigns i’ve seen have focused on that. (the skullitmate secrets line seems to be working on that, though)

also, it’s fair to point out that many of the people criticizing G3 are teenagers themselves. as a high schooler, while overalls are a thing of course clawdeen’s design feels like it belongs more in early middle school to me. and while i do agree bashing G3 for being age appropriate is stupid, doesn’t the entire premise of MH being about teenage monsters give it more of a reason to be unrealistic than RH, which takes place in the real world? EAH for example is a pretty age appropriate doll line and dresses up a good chunk of their characters in fancy fantasy clothing, which is similar to what i’m trying to say

the other critiques i’ve been hearing (such as changing of character’s original races/ethnicities and backstories into new ones out of nowhere, ghoulia no longer being nonverbal which i don’t like personally since my younger brother is both autistic and nonverbal, accents being removed, etc.) are valid, but it shouldn’t get into the point that the VAs and actors are bullied when they had next to nothing to do with any of these changes

i hope all of this was worded well, and to clarify no i don’t hate G3 i actually like it a lot and most of the new dolls have been super cute
