REVIEW: Boxy Girls Family Dollar Exclusive Harper & Kayla

I finally found a Family Dollar that was convenient to get to! And that means, Family Dollar exclusive Boxy Girls!

They had 2 Sienna, 2 Harper and 1 Kayla. And perhaps Piper. My mom said after we were home that she thought she saw another one, but somehow didn't realize I was looking for these. So we'll go back Wednesday, as it's right next to her eye doctor.

Harper's little dress ruffle can be moved around, so it can go around her neck, shoulders or waist.

I adore her shoes. Definitely some of the best Boxy shoes.

Harper comes with a little aqua jacket that I ended up putting on my January, plus a yellow necklace, flower earrings, a cute chartreuse heart purse, and a little bear...purse? wallet? Something.

I adore Kayla! She might be the cutest one I have.

Kayla comes with translucent glittery hot pink boots, a heart purse, a kitty purse, a necklace that says "unicorn" and the cutest winged backpack ever. So glad I found her!

I really want Blake, so I hope to find her soon. If anyone comes across her, I would totally pay you for her.

REVIEW: Boxy Girls Big Box

I found the Boxy Girls Big Box at Walmart while doing a supply run today. This box costs $29.94 and contains 2 dolls and a load of surprises.

The outer box is super cute and I kept it to keep my Boxy Girls stuff in.

Inside are two smaller boxes.

Each contains a doll, who's in an odd sitting pose. She's held down by two plastic tabs. One goes across her calves, which you can see. The other is across her waist and that one was much harder to cut.

The doll is wearing a simple cheap cloth piece with a spot of velcro on it. It looks like a towel wrapped around her coming out of the bath or shower.

The other tray in the box contains 3 big boxes and 10 smaller ones.

The brunette doll is named Everly. She's pretty cute, but I'm not sure why they did a second green-eyed brunette. She's different from Brooklyn, but not that different. Why not do a redhead or give this girl brown or blue eyes?

Her hair is pulled back in a little ponytail and she's got face-framing bangs.

I started opening boxes and I was surprised how many of them were the same things I already owned.

Black boots, Willa's brown shoes, headphones, sunglasses, hairclip, blue necklace and bracelet, charm bracelet, green earrings, hoop earrings and lipstick.

Why didn't they do recolors? That's just not smart.

Everly's dress is super cute. I do love that and it's new.

However, notice something about her?

She has TWO RIGHT HANDS.

These dolls are blind-packed so you can't check for stuff like this. I wrote the company a complaint about it. $30 and a defective doll? Nope.

Aside from the dress, these are her new pieces.

I love the fries purse and the disco ball purse. The shoes are cute. The tiara I don't care about, but kids would like it probably.

I hoped I'd have better luck with Stevie, this lavender-haired beauty.

She has really nice hair, although I'll  likely give her a condition at some point to get the box ponytail kinks out of it.

At least she has proper hands.

I adore gray eyes and you do not see them nearly enough in dolls!

Stevie's my new second fave after Riley.

Stevie had repeat pieces, too.

Riley's headphones with cat ears, the green present purse, the shell purse, silver sneakers, gold bracelet, star earrings, tassel earrings and feather earrings.

But she came with more new pieces than Everly did.

The strappy gold sandals are lovely and I adore the strawberry and cherry earrings. The tiny cassette tape purse is cute. Even the brush is cute. The red shoes with gold "bows" are also adorable and then you realize those aren't bows, but farfalle (AKA: bow tie) pasta!

Why farfalle? Because the outfit she came with is totally food-themed. I decided it was too much for Stevie, who seems a bit more elegant, and put this goofy thing on Everly.

It's a pizza skirt, a white tank with a smiling soda cup on it and the farfalle shoes. I added the hoop earrings and fries purse.

The pizza skirt is twisted sideways to give it an asymmetrical look, mostly because if you leave it on correctly, it sticks up so much you can see her panties.

Riley claimed the cherry earrings. They suit her perfectly!

Brooklyn got Everly's dress and the strawberry earrings.

Willa modeled the new aqua shoes. I put her back in her brown ones though.

These are cute, but the brown are better.

I gave Stevie this dress I already had, the gold shoes she came with, the charm bracelet (turned into a necklace), and the disco ball purse.

And then I added the cassette tape purse, too, because both are so cute!

I actually think Everly's the cuter one.

So is the $30 box worth it? If you're a big Boxy Girls fan, I think it's worth it. I really love my Stevie doll and Everly's nice, too. I would have bought them both if they'd been sold separately, which would have also cost $30. I do wish they'd come with more clothing pieces and less repeats of stuff I already owned. And I really wish Everly wasn't defective! I hope the company can send me a left hand for her or something.

REVIEW: Boxy Girls Nomi

I went back to the farther Walmart today to pick up Nomi. I examined the fashion packs, too, but I didn't see any with multiple Nomi boxes showing, so I think they're the ones I've already had.

Nomi is the Ambiguously Brown Girl of the line. Only she's actually kinda orange. It's what kept me from getting her last week, but then I ended up falling for the line, so I needed everyone and here I am with Miss Orange now.

She's my least favorite of the four. Her stock stuff is kinda all over the place.

So she's got an animal print top with a pink glittery skirt and silver sneakers. None of these pieces go together. The only things that might arguably work together are the pretty silver leaf headband and the skirt, but even that's a stretch for me, since that shade of pink works better with gold.

Do her accessories help? Not really.

Also, be careful brushing her hair. Mine had a snarl in one of the ponytails trailing from the buns and yanked almost the entire bun out. It was pretty easy to fix, but still.

Where in the world do the bright green earrings and box purse fit in? They don't.

The silver charm bracelet goes nicely with the headband though.

Meh to the hair extension. I always just toss those aside.

The shoes are super cute and have promise, but they're not just pink. They've got a purple tone that brings yet another color in here.

Maybe Nomi's thing is that she just clashes all the time.

Not on my shelf.

So it was time for redressing.

Nomi: Stock headband, charm bracelet, skirt and shoes. Riley's stock earrings. Brooklyn's stock shell purse. Fashion pack purple top.

Riley: Nomi's stock top. Everything else is from the fashion packs.

Willa: Fully in her own stock.

Brooklyn: Her own stock plus Nomi's stock earrings.

I love these girls! I hate that we'll have to wait a while for more. Unless there really is another fashion pack out there. Anyone find a fourth?

REVIEW: Boxy Girls Willa

More Boxy Girls! I stopped in Walmart after work and was happy to see they added Willa to the shelves. I picked her up and a fashion pack with two Brooklyn boxes showing, which I knew was a new one, since my others didn't have two Brooklyn boxes.

And then I totally forgot to get the thing I came in there for. Smart.

But yay Willa.

Willa is from Venice Beach, Florida, and she's clearly the hippie chick of the group.

Her dress is my favorite stock outfit for any of the girls. I love the pretty shades of blue and the simple but cute design.

I also love her shoes and her feather headband.

So pretty! This is the only head accessory I'm leaving attached. I yanked Brooklyn's bow and Riley's headphones right off.

Willa's four boxes contained a pineapple purse that will go nicely with those fashion pack sunglasses, a blue fringe purse, pink sandals like the lavender fashion pack ones but with additional paint on the soles, and a pair of giant silver feather earrings and a silver and blue choker.

I love Riley a lot, but I think Willa's actually the best full package of the dolls. I love every piece she comes with!

And here's the fashion pack. It came with black boots (YAY), a star print dress, a gold cuff bracelet that's actually different from the other one I have, a backpack, a pair of pink headphones, and a hair extension that was packed with a lipstick and the bracelet. Also included was Riley's stock pair of purple boots, which I didn't picture.

So I've uncovered three different fashion packs so far. I imagine there's a fourth one, because each has multiple boxes for one of the girls and I haven't found one with multiples for Nomi yet.

I'm going to have to go back to the far Walmart and pick up Nomi now! I'm not sure my local stores are getting her, since they only had shelf tags for the other three girls.

REVIEW: Boxy Girls Riley and Brooklyn Dolls & Fashion Packs

Got a new product to check out today! Boxy Girls were the other thing I was looking for at the farther Walmart and they came through.

That store had Riley, Nomi and Brooklyn, along with the fashion pack. No Willa. These seem to be one character per case. Like they had 8 Riley, 4 Brooklyn and 4 Nomi.

The dolls are $14.94 and the fashion packs are $9.98 or something like that. I can never remember the exact change amounts of Walmart's prices.

Here's Riley straight out of the box. She's 8" tall. I should have done some size comparisons, but I didn't. No undressed pic either. What can I say? I was pretty excited to get those boxes open and play with redressing.

She has articulated wrists and knees, and she's quite poseable.

Her top and dress are two separate pieces.

And she can totally "Come at me, bro." She ended up in this position when I deboxed her and I just laughed.

The gimmick for Boxy Girls is pretty cute. Each doll comes with four shipping boxes. These girls have as much fun online-ordering as I do clearly!

The boxes are each addressed to the girl, so you can see where she lives. Riley here is from Nashville, TN.

Riley's goodies were a necklace and silver star earrings,  a pair of purple heels, a silver purse, and a hair extension. Each box also contains either two stickers or a sticker and a cardboard note.

The fashion pack contains 6 boxes, one of which is a lot bigger.

Three of these were for Riley, Nomi and Brooklyn. One box each. (Nomi is from Nevada and Brooklyn is not from Brooklyn. Weird. She's from San Francisco.)

Riley got a denim skirt, Brooklyn a cute top and Nomi some lavender sandals.

Willa got the three other boxes. Willa, by the way is from Venice Beach, FL. Being a Floridian now, I must have her.

She got a cute pair of pink sandals in one box, a wild pair of gold earrings, a gold bracelet and a nail polish bottle all together, and a giant pair of pineapple sunglasses.

The skirt has nice stitching on it that her top covers up.

All the pieces are really well-made.

This does not seem her style, poor thing.

She holds poses super well and I love the shape of her legs and feet. Her hands are cute, too.

Her hair is decent. Not the best, not the worst.

Sorry, Riley, someone had to wear them and you're the only one here.

I like these earrings on her, but not with this outfit.

All the stuff I got is really casual.

It turned out that Mom forgot to grab butter while we were at this Walmart, so off we went to my local one that just yesterday had no Boxy Girls.

Surprise! They had Brooklyn and Riley out, so I grabbed Brooklyn and another fashion pack.

Brooklyn has a super cute dress and I adore her shoes. Two colors of paint on one pair of shoes. That's becoming rarer, I swear.

This is what Brooklyn had in her boxes: a pair of giant hoop earrings and a blue bracelet, a shell purse, a citrus purse, and some silver wedge sneakers.

The sneakers don't really seem very her, but eh, sure.

I do really love that shell one, too.

This is the first time in a long time where I'm really hoping they make basic dolls with like one shipping box accessory so I can have more to redress.

And here's Riley again, now with the contents of the second fashion pack!

I honestly did not pay attention to the names on the boxes this time, but I know those glasses were Willa's, even though they're way more Riley's style. I remember thinking "Hey, why does she get both big boxes?" The skirt, shoes (same as Riley's from the boxes included with her doll) and kitty compact and lipstick were all Riley's. The compact and lipstick came with another pair of those big hoop earrings like Brooklyn's, too. I forgot to put them back in the pic.

The rainbow purse was Willa's. I'm thinking the purple top had to be Nomi's then.

The people at Jay at Play must really love purple. I don't have much of this stuff, but I already have so many purple bits! There's not even a top I could really match to this fab skirt, but there was no way she wasn't wearing this, so I just put purple with it.

I tried it with the silver sneakers, but that's a no.

Honestly, in Walmart the first time, I looked at Brooklyn and Nomi and went "Nah, I don't need these. They're cute, but I can stick to just one."

And then I opened Riley and had fun posing her and opening all the boxes. Nope, these girls are addicting.

I may go back for Nomi in a few days unless she shows up at one of the closer stores first...

I think Jay at Play really hit it out of the park here. The fashion doll market was ripe for something new and what's really popular right now? Blind box anything. So put a fashion doll with a blind box element out and I think they're going to have a hit on their hands.

The fashion packs differ obviously, so I can already say I'll be buying more! And I'll get Nomi and Willa, too, as soon as I see them. Well done, Jay at Play.
