Plushie Spotlight

I love backing artist-designed plushies! I've gotten several recently, so I thought I'd show them off in one big post.

These two are dryads from the world of @cammiereis on Insta.

I love how much bigger Wisteria is than tiny Bonsai!

Then we have Sugarbell Pals Fruit Snax! I love the name. She's floppy but also weighted.

These guys are HUGE. Like the current trend in artist plush seems to be to make them gigantic. My Snughouls are huge. Fruit Snax is huge. The next pair are huge. On the plus side, it does make me a bit pickier about who I order, simply because I don't have that much room for them all! (I say when I'm already planning on at least five from the next Snughouls series.)

Next are the Sweet Snuggle Dreamers. This is Maple the autumn fox.

Maple has been my companion while I've been sleeping on the couch. We've got a new puppy that doesn't like to sleep on beds, so I've been out on the couch most nights. He likes the couch but not the beds. I dunno. Puppies.

I love Maple's colors. He's much more vibrant than this pic is showing.

Nox the midnight moth is another Sweet Snuggle. I backed the second campaign, too, so they'll be joined by a phoenix friend eventually.

And finally, meet the Critterfolk! Cinder Opossum, Briar Wolf and Juniper Coyote are a smaller size, but no less cuddly. They have super soft fur and I love their faces so much. You can't see Briar's face very well, but trust me, it's adorable.

REVIEW: Playmates Toys Winx Club FLORA

After seeing a couple posts on Insta where people found the new Playmates Winx dolls in Target (so far Bloom, Stella and Flora only that I've seen), I decided to swing in Target after work.

I did not expect to find anything. We certainly don't have the Totally Rad MLPs or the Oasis MH.

BUT WE HAD FLORA!!!!

She was the only one there and I had three to choose from. Not sure if the case is four and one was bought or if the case is three.

$17.99. I was worried she wouldn't ring up, because they're supposed to be out on the 5th, but she did. No problems. Whew!

Boring back of the box. I prefer doll photos to show images. Or both. Both is good.

She was easy to open. Not even any plastic tabs poking through her head to clip off.

The box contains only the doll. These are basic, so don't expect things like a stand or comb.

My first impression is that yes, she's a simple doll, but she's also a pretty doll. It seems obvious to me that these are more kid-friendly budget-type dolls, especially at that price. Adoorbs cost the same now, for example.

The only part of her hair that's gelled is the little bangs.

I can't tell what the fiber is. It's pretty much a waste of time asking me that. I was never good at it unless it was really obvious. But it's softer than I expected.

Her face is quite pretty. Definitely on the pixelated side, but so much is nowadays.

I did have three to pick from and this one stood out from the other two. I think her face is set a little lower, but she was the prettiest one.

The dress is quite nicely made. It has one long piece of velcro down the back for easy dressing. There's also a white ribbon crotch strap to hold it in place.

I like all the layers on the skirt. Each "petal" is separate and they're two different materials.

The flowers on the arms are held down with rubber bands.

The boots are a little glitter crusty for me, but not bad.

Her hair has this huge blonde streak. Not sure if they all do or if this is just mine.

She does have tinsel. I already picked off that piece above her left ear that looks a little fried.

LOVE the wings. They took a nod from Jakks here.

They flap easily, but also feel quite sturdy.

The peg is a W.

She has a simple body, but it's nice. I like the thicker thighs.

She's easy to pose, holds poses quite well, and she feels sturdy.

She has weirdly tiny feet though! They're really not that small, but I'm just so used to dolls having bigger feet.

There's the back with the hole for the wings to fit into. They don't feel loose, so I think they'll stay on nicely.

She can sit, though there is a little resistance at the hips. I don't know how to describe it. They feel kind of springy? But I got her to sit fairly easily.

This is after I washed the gel out of her bangs. (I realized after that I forgot to do a seated photo.) I molded them to her face so they hopefully hold a nice shape after drying.

Height-wise, she's similar to Rainbow High.

Overall, I love her and I'm so pleased to see Winx back on the shelves! I'm excited to watch the show.

The doll is simple, yes, but I don't see a doll aimed at collectors here. This is a doll for kids, so having basic articulation, being sturdy, and that lower price point are all nice for the target market.

She's a nice quality doll. She just doesn't have the precious articulation that so many people are still a little too attached to. (This attitude has been annoying me since the heyday of MH.)

REVIEW: Decora Girlz Series 2

I ordered a dozen Decora Girlz Series 2 from Books a Million. I ended up getting 8 of the 9, though the one I'm missing is one I'm pretty sure I would have kept (Groovy). I will not be reviewing Regina or Decora Shine.

Batty is out of her box because hers was crushed.

These are $12.99 on the site, but be aware that if you're not a member, you're looking at a regular shipping rate plus 99 cents per item. These are blind-shipped, too.

Batty is the far superior spooky girl. Sorry, Luna.

The stickers come in a green baggie taped to the back of the box liner. Each doll except one comes with three sheets of stickers. Then there's a comb, a purse/bag and a stand.

She's so cute! My new favorite overall.

Electra was a definite want for my neon-loving self.

Her hair is huge.

Accessories.

Joy here is my second fave from this line, Electra is third.

Accessories. She's the one that loves all holidays.

This line is a bit odd in that there are two beach-themed ones.

This is Marina.

Accessories.

And this is Sunny.

Sunny is the one that only has two sticker sheets. She's missing the one with the largest stickers. It's because she comes with sunglasses. I'm pretty sure London was the same way in Series 1.

Accessories.

Marina and Sunny.

Finally, my sleeper hit. I didn't think I was going to open Sprinkles, but she grew on me instantly when I saw her in the box.

She's cute as hell and I think I like her better than Marina and Sunny.

Accessories.

So I do have six extras for sale.

1 Electra

1 Joy

1 Sprinkles

2 Decora Shine

I'm asking exactly what I paid per doll, minus the base shipping rate to me. So $12.99 plus $1.40 tax plus $0.99 ship charge = $15.38. Then shipping to you on top of that. I know it's more expensive than the store, but it's what I paid, and I'm sure I'm not the only one without a Books a Million. And this would still be easier for those that only wanted one or two characters. As always, I'm willing to give deals if you want multiple items.

I would also trade one or maybe even two for Groovy.

REVIEW: Monster High Reel Drama CLEO

I did not love my first Cleo, but thankfully, the replacement looked a lot more like her.

Poster. Love this.

Hissette and mini poster.

Ah, my girl Cleo.

I don't have much to say about her. She's just awesome.

I do still wish they'd made the bangs look like the promo pics. She was really gorgeous in those.

I wonder if the line will continue. I'd like to see Abbey, Spectra and Toralei.

REVIEW: Shadow High Collector HEATHER

After getting a flawed Shani, I was afraid for Heather, but she was basically perfect aside from that one chunk of black bangs.

She is an absolute showstopper!

That's the main reason Shani looks more like regular line doll than collector. Because they didn't give her this level of detail.

She has a septum pierce, earrings and a choker, molded rings on each hand that are different, a flocked shaved side of her head with a star shaved into it, and a far more flashy outfit.

First playline doll with a septum piercing!

I know these are called collector, but they're only $33 and not limited, so I really don't feel they qualify as collector. Like she's a few steps up from how the regular RH/SH used to be. So she's collector in relative terms within this line, but to me, she's still playline. Not that there's a thing wrong with that. Just explaining why I said playline in that first sentence.

Her boots are really the only simple thing about her. I would have preferred a more typical goth style, but I do love the chain detail.

She's pretty much perfect. So dramatic!

I somehow did not notice the shaved side until I opened her.

Love it!

I really hope they continue this line.

Yep, basically perfection.
