As always, if you're buying online and you can afford it, I recommend ordering two of any MH doll that you can see in the packaging if it's one you really love. I ordered a total of 3 (1 separately and 2 in another order) and my 2 arrived yesterday. I love this one, but the second one is not great. Not horribly flawed but definitely not nearly as pretty as this one. The third came today and she's on par with this one. I'm debating whether or not I want to keep her, because I ended up altering this girl. Yeah, so if you want to see how long her hair is, better look up someone else's review...
Yun Yun is the best part of this art.
Of course, the pen rolled over and I didn't notice. Sigh.
So Jin comes with her sketchbook and an adorable pen(cil?), a water bottle, sunglasses I didn't bother trying on her, a random hanger, her exquisite phone, her backpack, and a teeny tiny dress form with a dragon tail. That I totally intended to show off in this photo, which is why it's backwards in the pic. (I have writing brain, guys. I'm sorry. I totally phoned this one in.)
The accessories are all really cute, though I think the hanger is a waste, because what's she hanging? Her own jacket? Where is she hanging it? This isn't a playset. The dress form is curious because it's tiny. I've decided she's a doll collector and designs for her dolls. Yep. That must be it.
Yun Yun!
I can't believe people complained about another character having a dog. First of all, dogs are the best. Second, a ton of dog breeds originated in China. Third, he's adorable. Fourth, shut up.
A little snip snip and here she is!
Jin's hair length on the show is quite short. I think it falls around her shoulder blades. I was contemplating trimming one and keeping a second one with the doll's stock hair, but the quality of the hair on this doll is making me rethink even bothering to keep a second one. I brushed her and her hair just frizzed up towards the bottom. It seemed fairly uneven and dry, so it made sense for me to chop it. While this length isn't as short as the show, I think it looks good and I'm not testing my limited hair-cutting skills any further.
I love her outfit and all these intricate details. She has different earrings in each ear, a necklace, two different bracelets, and the pin on her jacket, plus a detailed belt.
One of my nitpicks about this doll's design is that Jin does not have golden hands. She has long golden claws. They took the time and money to sculpt her these gorgeous hands, but then it's like they had no money for actually taking them further and making them look better. The hands should have been green like in the show and they should have painted her claws. If RH could do it for years, why not MH? But say they really couldn't afford that. Then they should have brought the gold up onto her wrists like they did with her knees. The switch to the golden leg is still pretty jarring, but the deco above the knees helps. I suppose their justification may have been something about the bracelets, but the thing that really irks me now that I have her in hand is that the peg is TAN. It's not even GOLD. Come on, Mattel.
Okay, okay, done.
She is stunning though!
Tried to get a photo of her ear.
Failed.
I also tried to get photos of her phone sculpt and they didn't show enough detail. This is my favorite phone from the entire line now. It's beautiful.
Jina's doll just keep blowing me away with how gore-geous she is. I mean the patterns. The PATTERNS!
