REVIEW: Unicorn Academy LAYLA

Unicorn Academy continues with two new character dolls, their full-sized unicorns, and a masquerade doll for Isabel. There's a new playset for small figure Ava, too.

Layla arrived today, though she and Valentina both said January 3rd for a long time.

I'm thrilled to see Layla, because she totally should have been in the first release instead of Isabel.

(I need to get back to watching the show, but I did like what I've seen so far.)

She's so cute!

I love the material used for her jacket.

Like the others, the jacket and top underneath are one single piece.

Her hair is SO SOFT. It's fabulous. I wish all curly hair felt this nice.

Joining the other girls.

Hopefully, I'll get notice that Valentina is coming early, too!

Squishable love!

I've been buying a lot of Squishables recently, so let's take a look at some.

Evil Candy Cane and Spider Tree are hanging on the back of the couch. Gothmas, y'all.

These two are the smaller size. I think the candy cane is a Snacker, while the tree is an Alter Ego.

One of my big faves. This is the Fallen Angel. I call him Aza (Azazel).

This is an older photo, but I didn't think to grab Baby Seraph to photograph with Aza, so here he is with the Flatwoods Monster.

And here's Flatwoods again with the Fresno Nightcrawler. I LOVE him.

Inky Cap has been photographed before, but Hellfire Mushroom (Alter Ego) has not.

Kelpie and the Sakura Mothman. Sakura has magnets in her wings! Look at those cute feeties.

Alter Ego Plague Doctor Beast and brown pigeon. I think the pigeon is the only normal one I've bought in ages.

Wolf Spider and Black Widow.

And my brand new Tomatoad that just arrived today and definitely is one of my top faves. He is PERFECT.

I think I have all the ones I want that are out right now. I'm pretty sure they showed a goth version of the worm and I NEED them to make him.

FLASHBACK: Moxie Teenz

With the arrival of my third Moxie Teenz, I realized I'd never photographed Tristen.

I bought her off Mercari. Her hair isn't stock. Maybe someday I'll buy her boxed and have her pristine, but I love this version, so I took her in good deboxed condition.

The third line is definitely the best of the Teenz. I'm fully in support of the rooted hair.

Leigh and Tristen. Hoping to have the others join them soon!

For some reason, my most wanted of the earlier dolls was this Series 2 Arizona. (I'm still mad she got left out of S3 and doesn't have a rooted doll.) I snatched her up on ebay when she came up recently.

I love her, but not as much as I thought I would.

She's pretty though. Don't get me wrong. I like all the jewelry and her layered outfit.

What I don't love is the visible wig cap! UGH. Big pet peeve. That hat will stay on forever.

That's better.

I'm glad I have her. I have no plans of getting S1, so this will be my only Arizona.

My aim is to get the other S3 dolls, then the other Tristens and maybe S2 Melrose.

REVIEW: Living on the Veg Series 4 Radlads

Living on the Veg started with mushrooms, then moved to corn. The third series was squash and the fourth we knew were radishes. However, I honestly thought these were not going to come out. There are two large radish plush on Amazon, but neither design appealed to me.

When these turned up on ebay, I had to grab the entire set. The seller had two of each. No idea how they got them, but I'm grateful!

With the corn, there was one that was made but quite hard to find (Dylan). With the squash, eight characters were shown, but two never released. I'm betting we'll never seen Jordyn or Chester. Jordyn actually has a listing on Walmart and you can see him in plush form. He's super cute, so it's a shame he was left out.

Here we have Sydney and Charlie.

Charlie is definitely in my top faves for the entire Living on the Veg line.

Ramona and Madison.
Asher and Wells.

Asher was called Archie in Wells' little profile blurb on his tag. Asher is a surfing instructor and Wells is one of his students.

I didn't take a pic of Asher from the side, but he's got a mohawk.

Love them all!

REVIEW: Monster High Fang Vote Jinafire Long

I debated whether to debox her or not, but I think she's more of a showstopper outside the box.

I'll start with the only thing I don't like. People chose the wrong shoes. I hate the random red at the bottom when everything else is shades of blue. The other shoes were so much better designed in both sculpt and color.

The water stand is fantastic, though a bit unstable.

Moving up.

Love the purse.

Excellent makeup. I can't remember if I voted for the other design, but I liked both.

So.

Many.

Details.

Gorgeous from the side.

Again with the details. The pearls beside her eyes are perfect.

Wow.

Absolutely stunning. I love her more than Rochelle. I don't think I ever reviewed Rochelle, but I do have her and love her. Jin blows her away though.

And she came with this gorgeous piece!

Very pleased to add her to my shelf. Now I can't wait to see who we get to design next year.

REVIEW: Monster High Harris Reed Witch Weaver

I wasn't sure if I was going to do reviews for Weaver and Jin, so no boxed pics for either, but they're readily available elsewhere.

I honestly do not understand why people are sleeping on this stunning doll.

Genderfluid? Fantastic clothes? The details on the hands? The makeup? The HAIR?

Come on, y'all.

Who cares if the material was used already? It's a fun material. People really will nitpick anything.

Love love love.

Epic stompy boots.

The overall picture is fabulous.

My only complaint about this doll is that the hat doesn't stay on well. It's a large, heavy piece and its only support is some comb teeth inside the hat. I got it to stay for these last two pictures, but when I moved him to my display space, it won't stay on, as he's not back against a wall or something more stable. So it's off for now. I may rearrange my top MH shelf.

Yeah, definitely love this doll. I'm half tempted to get a couple of the Off White ones to hang with him, but I still off put (har har) by their prices.

REVIEW: Magic Mixies Pixlings HOWLEXA

Yay, Howlexa made it!

Her moon is purple with yellow on it, and her symbol is an oval gem.

Instant love.

Now some people might think I'm being too hard on Tiggz about the repeat color scheme issue, because Howlexa isn't the most unique colors, but I still find her quite different from both Catlyn and Unia, who are somewhat similar in color.

Love this makeup! It's so detailed!

It's also nice to see something darker, which is why Howlexa is such a standout.

From the side.

Her hair is sleek and straight.

The other side.

My only nitpick about her is those ears. Don't get me wrong, I think they look great, but they don't really feel like wolf ears. They're a bit too large and the points on the end aren't wolfy. I wonder if she was initially supposed to be a bat, as that's what the ears make me think of.

Officially, according to her pamphlet, she is a Black Star Wolf.

A little howl.

Definitely one of my top favorites. Three-way tie between her, Angelica and Nebula. Because I could not possibly choose between them.

I love that they've finally done a darker girl, even though they also lean into the usual dark purple/blue/pink to make it happen.
