REVIEW: Nebulous Stars figures

 

When I saw that Nebulous Stars had figures, I immediately went looking for where to buy them. Thankfully, my source for Isadora and Aura had them in stock. I ordered 24, hoping for a set of 12 for myself and close to another set for a friend. 

There are the 12 characters on the back.

Inside, you find the pet figure, a round lavender stand, a pamphlet, and a character sticker. I didn't take a pic of these. 

I'm going to go in alphabetical order this time.

Agatha didn't get a plush yet, but her figure is adorable!

Aura needs her stand to stand. A lot of them don't, but a few do. 

Look at the colors! The sculpts are beautiful, and the paint jobs and wide array of colors really bring the figures to life. 

Here's Blizzia.

They did a fantastic job of making them look like the art. 

Elana and her mushrooms. You can see the pearly sheen over each figure. 

My favorite here is Lilya. Her colors are so beautiful!

Lumina is my second fave. His colors aren't as varied as others, but he looks just like his art. 

My photos of Louna on his own didn't come out, so here are the pair. Louna is my third fave. Or maybe tied for second with Lumina. Argh. I love them both.

Octavia is a top fave, too. LOVE her!

Even Paloma turned out really cute. 

And I love Stella's expression.

If you'll notice, Astria is missing. Yeah, I bought 24 but didn't even get all 12 for myself. I did get 10 of 12 for my friend, so the assortment wasn't that bad, but I REALLY want Astria. Soooooo I ordered more.

I will be listing the doubles here once my second order arrives. I'm hoping someone else will love them like I do and I can help another US person get them without the import shipping cost. 

Oh, here's a quick size comparison with Abbey's Shiver and some Mixlings. 

The figures are smaller in height, but their paint jobs are outstanding. They don't look all pixellated either like a lot of other little toys. 

I'm totally in love and I really, really hope Astria is in my second order!

REVIEW: Nebulous Stars plush

I've shown the Nebulous Stars dolls here, but I don't think I've shown the plush. Definitely not all of them! I've managed to get them all, so let's have a look.

I'm going in order of the characters on the official website.

This is Stella, Nebulia's pet. 

Most of them are hybrids of some kind. Stella looks mostly like a pink cat, but she's got wings and a unicorn horn. 

My least favorite just because she's really simple. 

Octavia is Marinia's octopus. She was in the first batch of these I imported. She's super cute. 

Paloma is Petulia's pet. These three characters are the ones that got the first three dolls. 

Paloma is not my fave. She's really cute in the art, but her flower head just did not work in plush form. 

I don't even know what type of animal she's inspired by. A...chipmunk? It's gotta be something foresty. And then she's got little wings, too. 

Isadora is the fourth character and fourth doll. Her pet is named Aura. 

Aura is a really pretty plush, but not the most cuddly. All those shaped pieces aren't the softest things. 

Aura is some type of lizard, but with feathery wings and a beak. 

Adorable hermit crab Lyria is Coralia's friend. I think they did a pretty good job of translating her art into a plush. 

She's adorable and was one of the first ones I got. 

Elana goes with Hazelia, who's the other plant one along with Petulia. 

She did not translate well into plush. Her art is SO cute. She's sort of an antlered squirrel, but she has mushrooms growing on her. None of that really shows well here. 

She is cute from the side though. 

Eclipsia's owl Louna is my favorite of them all. He was in the first ones I ordered and he's super cuddly. 

What helps is that his tail is soft material and not the firmer stuff. That's only over his eyes. 

While Nebulous Stars is definitely a heavily pink/purple/blue line, I love that they weren't afraid to use gray for most of Louna. 

Blizzia is the last of the initial batch I got. Sadly, she's my least fave of that group. 

I think it's because Blizzia is basically a penguin with a peacock tail, but she looks more like another owl here. 

The tail is pretty though and they did well in not making it from the harder material. 

Orelia was the first new character introduced while I was already into Nebulous Stars. I fell for Lumina immediately and he was the next plush I ordered after my very first group. I got him on ebay. 

Lumina is even cuter in the art, but they didn't do a terrible job. It's hard to capture caterpillar/moth/firefly in plush. 

Very grateful the wings are soft!

The next new girl was Estrelia, who's become my second favorite after Eclipsia. 

Her pet, Astria, is my second fave plush after Louna. 

Astria is the only one that doesn't look like any particular animal. He just looks like a fantasy critter to me. 

I wanted Astria so badly that I searched for Canadian companies that would ship here. I found a store and bought Astria, Stella, Elana, and Paloma. They didn't have Aura, so the hunt was on for her. I ended up finding her at my current NS source. I was also thrilled that they had the Isadora doll!

The next new girl was Nenuphia, who's the third watery one. (Not counting Iceana.) Her thing is lagoons, and her pet Lilya is clearly a frog.  

A frog with a long tail and giant wings. I adore her. 

Lilya came from today's delivery, along with a new product I'm going to review next. 

There is yet another new character, named Cristalia, but her pet bunny Agatha has yet to be made into a plush. 

So those are the Nebulous Stars plush, which sadly are import only for those of us here in the US. Thankfully, there are Canadian stores that ship here!

REVIEW: Nebulous Stars ISADORA

FINALLY! Woohoo!

I can't remember how many years ago we first saw Isadora at a toy show. I think at least two years. I would check in every few months, trying to see if she existed yet. I also can't remember the first time I noticed that she was available via the official Nebulous Stars site, which only ships to Canada. I hoped to find her elsewhere and even asked for help from any Canadian readers, but nothing ever worked out. 

I recently decided I wanted to finish my collection of Nebulous Stars plush and ended up finding a Canadian store that would ship to the US. I was able to get Stella, Elana, Paloma, and the super adorable Astria. (I'll have to do a post on the plush sometime soon.) I had picked up Louna, Octavia, Lyria, and Blizzia quite a while ago, and grabbed Lumina off ebay maybe a year or so ago. This store's selection left me only needing Aura. I did a Google search specifically for Aura and found another Canadian store...and this one carried the dolls! 

After all this time, I finally have my Isadora! While not my most wanted, I think Isadora would have been my third choice for the next character turned into a doll. Eclipsia is my fave and I think Hazelia would make a gorgeous doll, but I do love Isadora, too. She's a writer, after all. 

Isadora wears a one-piece romper thingy over leggings. One of the ruffles at the top is attached to the romper, but another is a fully separate piece attached to those brighter purple fabric straps. She has a plastic belt over the top and then her arm warmers. Her boots are simple silver flat boots. 

Isadora has gorgeous multi-colored eyes. Her forehead has bright blue makeup on it that comes around the outer edges of her eyes. Little stars in blue, pink and purple scatter around her forehead and cheeks. 

Her necklace is the only thing I don't like. It's open on the side and has already fallen off once. The design is great, but the execution isn't.

Isadora's hair is silky and lovely. It's mostly a blend of purple and blue, but there are yellow streaks on the top layer. 

She's absolutely my new favorite from the line! Stunning!

This is where I bought Isadora. They have the four dolls plus the plush. Their prices are very reasonable. The only trouble I had is that the shipping didn't calculate correctly (I thought it was too cheap) and they followed up with an email letting me know the actual cost. I sent them what I owed with Paypal and they shipped the next day. 

REVIEW: Nebulous Stars Petulia & Marinia

 

I'm so happy the Nebulous Stars dolls are now on Amazon! It was a total pain to get someone in Canada to ship Nebulia to me. Amazon has all three for $49.99 each. I've seen each one with a coupon, too. I'm hoping they do well enough that we keep getting more in this line. I really want them to get to Eclipsia and Hazelia!

So here we have Petulia on the left and Marinia on the right. 

The art for Nebulous Stars is mind-blowingly gorgeous. 

If I had the space, I would keep these boxes, but sadly no room.

So here is Petulia.

She wears a dress with a skirt of multiple layers of petals over leggings. 

 

They used a partial updo and a bit of gel to approximate her flower-like hairstyle. 

I love the makeup on these girls. (The shiny bit is some gel I need to clean off.)

Accessory-wise, she has a necklace, two arm pieces and that little plastic detail on her dress.

She's the only one to have sneakers. Nebulia and Marinia have flats.

Her pamphlet folds out to have a lot of different language options, which is really cool. 

She also came with a little booklet of Nebulous Stars products, which is the same one Nebulia came with.

Man, is she gorgeous. I didn't think she'd be my fave, but she is. 

I keep pushing her hair away from her face. The tiara moves it in front of her eyes more than I like, but I'm not detaching the tiara from her head.

Her dress is the only thing I'm disappointed in. The fit is pretty bad at the top. 

I moved the velcro to be as tight as it can and still be attached, but it's still not a good fit. Oh, well. She's so gorgeous, she can pull off a too big top. 

Marinia's accessories are the tiara, two bracelet pieces, and the plastic detail on her dress.

Her shoes are like Nebulia's. The part that goes up her calf is completely separate and I'm leaving the plastic bands on to hold them down.

All three together! Nebulia is definitely still the most striking. It's the eyes. She also has the best detail level in her outfit, even though I prefer the design of the other two. 

Petulia and Nebulia have slightly similar eyes, but having the darker bit at the top really helps Petulia look less odd. 

Marinia has the big starey eyes, too, but it's much less evident. 

She's so beautiful! 

One final pic. Again, SO HAPPY to see this line continue and that they're now accessible to American fans. (I wish they'd get the plush on Amazon, too.) I'm hoping these do well. They're still on the outlier side honestly. They're an odd size at 15" and they're not articulated so the adult collector snobs would stick their noses up at that. They're a bit pricey, too. But also, there's nothing else like them out there. I'm hoping that's what helped them get these new two girls produced and that it can keep going enough to get all the girls made.
