REVIEW: Rainbow High Sparkle & Shine WHITNEY

Ah, let's end with this lovely lady.

Whitney is going to be my last review for a few months, except for things I have preordered (the Holograms, GnG Jem) and a small number of exceptions (Robecca, Skelita). I have another concert trip coming up in early May and we're likely moving in June, so I've got to save up and cut back so I have less to pack. I've got some Charlie Bears preorders coming in, too, so money's going to go to those. I'd dearly love more Giochi Winx and vintage Barbie, but I've gotta be responsible!

Whitney has some pretty neat stuff.

This angry cat is my favorite. I'm guessing it's a sphinx.

She had gel in the long part of her hair, in the short pigtails, and in the longer bang pieces, but not in the fluffy bangs themselves. I left a little bit in the pigtails for shaping.

She's right up there with Misty. Simply stunning and unique as well.

I don't love Whitney as a name choice for a white-themed doll but I do like it as a name, so I'll try to ignore the questionable side of it.

I love the dark blue lava contrast.

I love me some glasses-wearing characters, but this is not a look. It blocks her gorgeous eyes and these just aren't an attractive design.

The earbuds also don't want to go in her ears. She's not wearing them so I didn't force them. I'm sure they'd go in if I did. Again I ask if CD players are coming back. I feel old. I can't keep up with this shit. Flip phone. CD players. Sigh!

Yeah, I shoved the cat in her bag. It's not a great fit but it gets the job done. I cleaned and rearranged my end table display just to add her to it, so she needed to hold her bag, as there's not a lot of room at her feet.

Absolutely love her. I mention it all the time, but I've been a sucker for white hair since Roxy and Orchid, Angel Cake and Apricot.

And she looks like Mercury from Blade!

Yeah, Whitney is a doll I'm proud to end my reviews on for their temporary hiatus.

REVIEW: Rainbow High Sparkle & Shine DAWN

I am so relieved that Target finally got it together and put these girls on their website. I checked my store last week and it's still a mess of half empty shelves and no new shelf tags or products.

Also super relieved that I did not have to import any of these.

Anyway, here's Dawn's stuff.

I remember the days when bags were more functional. That's one thing MH almost always does right.

She's a little messy, but damn, I love these colors. Imagine if we'd gotten a new Neon Shadow member with this color scheme. Sigh.

Her hair had a little gel in each pigtail and there's some in her bangs. I didn't take any of her hair down, though I'm tempted to redo the pigtails now that I see how messy they are. All those loose strands on top.

Again, love the color.

I adore her makeup but I wish it was a little bolder. It fades into her skin quite a bit and she's really pale, so it could definitely have been darker.

Her outfit is adorable.

These are neat.

She's just cute.

This is cute. I bet some people would say childish, but eh, it's just cute.

I'm not normally a headphones fan, but these fit really well.

She's not Whitney or Misty, but those two set the bar really high. I do like her more than Leilani though. She's more unique. Leilani is also gorgeous. Don't get me wrong. Love this entire line.

I love the lava legs, too. I don't get all these people rebodying them. They're so much more fun and interesting this way! Who cares if a few dolls on your shelf can't bend a knee? I'm sure I've griped about it before, but I swear the same people that can't stand these legs also either complained about Novi Stars back in the day when they had the same features (buzzkills) or want Novi Stars back now (hypocrites). I think these are the most fun feature legs they've done yet.

REVIEW: Monster High Skullector SCARAH

I did not have Scarah returning on my dolly bingo card this year.

I'm not Scarah's biggest fan. I still think she robbed Wydowna way, way, WAY back when! But she grew on me back then and now I absolutely love this doll. I wasn't aware of it, but this is what I've been waiting for when it comes to her character design. THIS is Scarah.

She really is breathtaking!

Love the face.

And for once, I'm leaving the gel in the bangs.

The mouths on the dress are genius. Sheer genius.

The veil is loaded with detail that I can't capture in photos. There's a neat behind the scenes look at her design on Mattel Creations.

These were my least favorite thing. I feel like she doesn't need the overly detailed footwear, because she's more simple otherwise. I do think the sculpt is really cool with the shrieking faces.

But...

THEY COME OFF.

More genius.

Now you can have Scarah in flats, which are lovely, and she's the perfect MH doll to wear flats because...

SHE CAN FLOAT.

I see so many people on Insta complaining about saddle stands. I don't see the problem with them at all. And in this case, now you've got a floating banshee! Couldn't do that with a clip stand and have it look as good.

There is also an extra plastic clip that stabilizes her on the stand so she can do this without even coming close to falling off.

PERFECTION.

There isn't a single thing I'd change here.

Now Scarah joins my shelves proudly, finally wearing something she can shine in.

REVIEW: Rainbow High Shadow High Girls' Night Shani & Luna

I deboxed and de-gelled my last two Shadow High sleepover girls this week.

Let's start with Luna.

The most boring accessories of the four. Why does she have a CD player? Why not a speaker? While the Neon Shadow CD is cute, a phone and a speaker seem more up to date.

She's cute, but definitely my least favorite of the line.

Her bangs don't lay that well so I knew I'd need to leave a little gel in there for shaping.

I like the PJs. They're cute. Nothing too special, but they're also traditional PJs and that's kinda nice.

She does have the cutest slippers of the four though!

Giant forehead. Takes me back to the ANTM fivehead.

I like her, but could she have been Nicole? ABSOLUTELY.

I'm aware that with their collector dolls, both Shani and Heather now have the same number of dolls as Luna, so it's really not fair of me to constantly lay blame on her and want her out so Nicole can take her place. It's honestly because her dolls wow me the least, so as the weak link, she's the one I want replaced by the neglected Nicole.

Like look at this girl compared to Luna. Puts her to shame.

Not my favorite accessories. They should have made the bag smaller and actually functional. If you put something in there, kiss it goodbye.

I do love the mirror though.

Shani is the prettiest of the line. Heather is my favorite, but Shani is the prettiest.

Her makeup doesn't photograph well, but it's gorgeous.

My only complaint is that her bangs don't lay well. I worked on them three times trying to flatten the light locks, but they still stick out a little.

Slippers are simple but cute.

And this could easily be worn as a casual dress, not a nightie.

Just gorgeous. Of the originals, Heather and Shani continue to be my favorites.

REVIEW: Rainbow High Airbrush and Create

I was not sure about this girl one bit. I know she was instantly popular and wanted by other collectors, but honestly, the white brows took me a while to get used to.

I ended up caving and ordering her when I had to reorder Shani and Luna from the sleepover line.

And I am so glad I did!

Her hair is amazing. It doesn't feel like any other doll hair that I know of. I washed the gel out of her bangs curls and the rest just like...repelled water. It's bizarre and epic.

I love her shoes. Really like all of her outfit actually.

So this is Astoria. Her name popped in my head as I was rinsing gel out of her bangs. Then I remembered that Victoria is the other freckled girl and I'm pretty sure Astoria was telling me that's her older sister. They look adorable together.

Definitely the best of these create dolls that they've ever done. Sorry I ever doubted you, Astoria!

REVIEW: Rainbow High Be Dazzling Adeline

I'm gonna be weird here and say I have a negative association with this doll's stock name, so mine is Aveline and I'll be referring to her as such.

She was the standout from this line for me right away. The pink one, yeah. Who knew?

But just look at her coloring!

Her skintone, makeup colors, dress colors, and hair colors all go together so damn well.

Just look at that face! She's absolutely stunning.

I do wish they hadn't bothered with the bangs though. I think they take a little away from her and I wish they'd just done long hair all around.

Her shoes are pretty neat.

She has my favorite dress of the line, hands down.

She's simply gorgeous. I adore her.
