REVIEW: Decora Girls Fashion Girls Series 2 PIXELZ

I call her Pixel, because her name being a plural irks me for some reason.

Had to get this one as a replacement because my first had wonky eyes. I originally was saying one was printed too low, but it was actually the other being printed too high.

The lineup.

So far, Decora Dream has been up for sale. Pixel was actually the first for sale months ago and then Heather, but both were so delayed that they got cancelled by Amazon. Then Decora Dream showed up and I was annoyed to see her when the other two weren't there. Then Pixel came back and actually came out. Now the other two Decoras are available, but no Heather yet and Regina has never appeared.

Stickers.

Gaming accessories I'll never use. And the world's most useless doll brush. My Little Ponys have brushes with thicker bristles. Come on, Cepia.

She's cute. I like the contrast of her hair.

The furry shorts...ehhhh.

I like the style of the shorter shirt over the bodysuit and I also like the cut of the bodysuit underneath. I wish the shirt didn't have gaming stuff on it. It just bores me, so I would have preferred to strip her of the gaming aspects. I tried leaving it off, but the green of the bodysuit looks weird without the darker color over it. I'm just picky, I guess. The larger dolls do not have my favorite outfits.

Definitely a cute doll though.

I hope all these actually come out. I wasn't going to get Regina but I might.

These are the two I really couldn't care less about. And Decora from the other side. Decora already got a doll, so let's put out three more of her?

I'm also not a fan of the bigger dolls always getting overloaded with colors. I loved Heather's small doll colors, but they rainbowed her up and made her a copy of the others. I want them to do one like London or Buzzy and actually stick with only the two colors. I'd love Batty and her three colors, but we already have Luna for the "goth" one, so I can see why she's not there. I'm mostly saddened that the holiday one isn't shown, which I'm guessing means she's scrapped. She was pretty awesome.

I still like these, but I do prefer the variety of the smaller line. I hope they at least make it to a third series so we can get some more characters though. I'd love to see Joy added to the bunch.

REVIEW: Monster High Skullector ALIEN XENOMORPH

Gah, even the packaging is amazing.

I wish I could afford to keep two, so one could stay in the box, but the details on this doll mean you have to have one open or you're just wasting her. The sculpting is immaculate!

Better people than me have done detailed breakdowns of her, so I'm not touching a thing. Just a couple quick poses.

This is one of the coolest dolls I own. Best Skullector by a long shot. I don't want to say best MH, because Skullector is so different from the core line. Very different purposes. But best Skullector easily.

My puppy bumped my hand here, but I like how this fits in the frame anyway.

LOVE.

WINX CLUB Episode 8 "Rock and Roll Fairies"

Oh, no, is everyone going to magically have musical talent again? I hope not.

Some of the girls are putting up posters for Musa's concert tomorrow. Stella is fitting some clothing on Bloom. Does she make clothes? That's cool. Bloom is fretting because Sky hasn't texted back. She's apologized for yesterday (so this is the day after the previous ep) many times. Tecna calculates the odds of him forgiving her at 35 to 1. Which really isn't fair, because she was spelled. It's not like she was really Bloom.

Musa appears, visibly upset. An agent is coming to her concert and will sign her if it goes well. So she basically has stage fright. This new Musa is so different from the original. I'm not sure I like it, since her primary characterization so far has really just been to be vulnerable.

Stella magics new clothes for everyone. Then she grabs Bloom's phone to text Sky, asking for help setting up the stage. If he says yes, he's forgiven her. Tecna starts to say "And if he says no," but Flora covers her mouth. She had an amusing line earlier that I skipped, but she said they needed to work on Tecna's ability to read the room. Sky replies that he's happy to help and will bring the other boys.

The next day, the boys are working on the stage. Tecna corrects something Timmy says, then takes his tablet to optimize his schematics. He's impressed. Stella takes charge of lighting and flirts with Brandon. Flora decorates the stage with a bunch of plants. Not sure plants scream rock and roll but sure.

Bloom and Musa discuss how they did promotion, while Brandon tells Riven they can start with the heavy stuff. He rolls away whatever Musa was leaning on with a grunt or two and avoided eye contact. Yeah, I might act the same way, considering how she acted a couple eps ago. Bloom keeps talking about something else and we are never going to get Musa and Riven backstory, are we? Ugh.

Bloom inquires about Sky. He's not coming. He's taken Diaspro out to brunch for their "everyversary." Ha! I love Riven's delivery on that. I think he's going to be my favorite guy. He's not an asshole anymore.

Musa says she had a dream about the song she and Bloom wrote and wants to run changes by her. Musa plays her guitar, while Riven watches wide-eyed from the back. He sets down a box and walks off. Musa wonders why he even bothered to come since it's obvious he doesn't like her. Ah, so new Musa is stupid.

A very obvious Vexius approaches. Apparently, he's the agent. He offers to take a walk with Bloom so Musa can focus, but Bloom says she promised to stay by Musa's side.

The Trix are watching, unimpressed by Vexius's inability to get Bloom alone.

Musa and Bloom put up some more posters. Bloom asks how Musa met Vexius and she says he DMed her. Bloom says he can be very persistent. At least one of them thinks he's suspicious. Sigh.

A couple girls say they're coming to Musa's concert. I love the one in the blue sweater. She's unusual-looking but I really like her design.

Bloom asks what Musa will do if she gets famous. She doesn't want her to leave Alfea. Musa says she just wants to have a hit album to support her dad. Her mother was a famous singer on their world and her dad hasn't been the same since she died. Ah, there's the Musa vulnerability I can understand more.

Suddenly, Riven walks by and the girls decide this is the most suspicious thing EVER. Bloom says he's moody and not always fun to be around. Wow, Bloom. Very nice. But she says he's basically a good guy. Musa isn't so sure and decides to tail him. They find him in a music store, playing Musa's song on guitar. Yeah, he's suuuuuuuuuuch a bad guy. Sigh. The store owner asks what they're doing and they say they were just looking for their friend. The owner says Riven is an excellent guitar player but he's very private, so he likely wouldn't appreciate being spied on. The girls leave. Musa wonders why Riven would be playing her song and Bloom says he must like it and not know how to tell her. Stormy appears, mocking their boy troubles. Darcy casts a neat spell that apparently blocks them from outside view and keeps them from escaping. Nice. Icy shoots ice at them, of course. Icy's powers are kinda boring like Flora's. I feel like there's much more that could be done with both, but the writers have always been too afraid to really explore them. Icy freezes their feet as Stormy prepares an electric blast, but Bloom melts the ice and they dodge. Musa prepares to attack but Icy encloses her in ice. No cry of ice coffin, but it's ice coffin. I did at least like the name of that spell. Riven comes out of the shop, sees dark magic and walks right through it. So Darcy's spell works how exactly? He sees Musa trapped in ice, gets his magic uniform on, tells Bloom to get Musa, and knocks Stormy down. Go, Riven! That might be cooler than anything he ever did before. Darcy is also down and now Musa is free. The three run off, while Icy says Vexius must never find out about this. Bloom thanks Riven for his help and he gives the Specialist "it's our duty to help" speech, but nicely. Musa still cannot say a word. Sigh.

At the concert, Musa still looks sad. Girl, get the f over it. I want to like her. I really do. But this defeated, afraid personality is not it. Flora and Stella provide some magical ambience. Tecna starts the music but Musa is terrified. Riven hoverboards out and apparently he can also play keytar. He winks at her, jumps off the board and continues to play. That's what it takes to conquer her stage fright. It's a cute enough song.

In the crowd, Diaspro holds up her hand. Was there a ring on that finger before? Bloom leaves. Bloom, WTF. You were supposed to support Musa, not be bothered by stupid Diaspro. Oh, right, she's got to be alone so Vexius can grab her. Of course. He says he was meant to have that power and blasts her with a spell, drawing the dragonflame out. But halfway to him, it switches directions, goes back into Bloom, and blasts him away. He says there must be something blocking his magic-stealing spell and he'll find out what it is and destroy it.

STELLA: The only thing getting destroyed is your reputation, because you, sir, are a terrible agent.

MUSA: I don't think he's an agent at all, Stella.

Ah, Stella.

The girls transform and the boys suit up. At first, I thought Vexius was going to flee, but no, he takes out the boys. Stella knocks him to the ground, but then he uses Aisha's water balls (seriously) to douse Bloom's flames. Flora's vines do nothing, while he deflects Stella's solar flare to take out Flora. He uses Tecna's spell to capture Musa's, which looked pretty awesome, and then knock all the Winx away. He prepares to end this, but here come the headmistresses. Naturally, they appear with their backs to Vexius, who disappears. They say they sensed a dark energy and came to investigate. The girls tell them a man posing as a music agent was trying to steal Bloom's powers. Musa says he was just using her to get to Bloom and the concert was a trick.

RIVEN: Maybe he lied to you, but the concert is real. You were amazing out there.

Whoa. Good Riven is what's amazing.

Bloom and Flora point out that the audience...the poor, very confused audience...is still out there. Including Sky who could have helped. WTF, Sky.

Musa says they're going to try something new. Oh, no.

Oh, yes.

Everyone spontaneously has musical talent.

SIGH.

Bloom is singing. Because of course she is.

Aisha on drums. Tecna on keytar. Everyone else has a guitar.

THERE'S A CHOREOGRAPHED DANCE NUMBER.

I don't hate it for what it is, but I always hate when they just make everyone have talent out of seemingly nowhere. I didn't mind with Riven, because it adds to his character and gives him something in common with Musa. But for the Winx to suddenly perform this, with Musa not in the lead, with Tecna somehow being okay with this? Ughhhh.

FG and Griffin walk away after the show. FG says the forces after Bloom are becoming more bold. FG says maybe it's time to tell Bloom that she has the dragonflame.

When they're breaking down after the concert, Sky makes up with Bloom. She compliments Diaspro's ring and says something like she must have loved when you gave it to her. Sky explains that Diaspro buys her own jewelry. Bloom is like "So the ring doesn't mean anything?" and Sky says "Not to me." While the others look on approvingly. Come on, girls. Okay, Diaspro sucks, but can we at least pretend that Bloom breaking them up isn't the greatest look for her?

In the Trix lair, they're chilling and listening to music. I like that the new Trix are more like regular teens. They're not single-minded villains. Vexius arrives and Icy mocks him, so he binds the Trix together and rants annoyingly.

END

Wow, okay, what a ride.

I went back and forth with Musa's character a lot. She hasn't had much development, so for a lot of it to be her being defeated and weak was annoying. I also don't like this unexplained thing with her and Riven. Just one or two lines of backstory would have helped that out a lot. He's come across as interested in her before and now he still seems that way, but the way she treats him is unexplained and that's bad writing. He appears to have won her over, but I'd like to know why she was hesitant in the first place. Just her general insecurity or did he do something? I think she's going to come out with me liking her more in the future, as long as she continues to grow and doesn't just stay negative about herself all the time.

Riven though. Best part of the episode. Hands down my favorite boy. So much more depth and excellence than his entire previous existence. I can get behind them as a couple now.

I like that this episode explored Bloom and Musa's friendship. They seem to be the closest pair except maybe her and Flora.

Faves order!

Tecna, Stormy, Darcy, Riven, Flora, Bloom, Musa, Stella, Aisha, Icy.

REVIEW: Monster High Buried Secrets 3 Part 1

My work Walmart had a full case of the new Buried Secrets masked dance line. Naturally on the week that I just spent on Bratz Janis and MH xenomorph, so I'm pretty broke.

The case breakdown is 2 Clawdeen, 2 Cleo, 1 Twyla, 1 Lagoona.

I obviously had to get Twyla and Lagoona with only one per case and then there was no way I was leaving my favorite girl behind. Clawdeen, I'll come back for you.

CODES: The codes are stamped into the box art on the back. I only paid attention to the first four numbers, which matched codes that someone else had provided.

1955: Twyla

1965: Clawdeen

1975: Lagoona

1985: Cleo

So it's really the third digit that matters. I'm not sure if the entire line will have these same four codes or if they'll differ as the potions/crystal balls do, but if they do change, the order of the characters should remain the same.

Each doll has a pair of shoes, a comb, a mask, a water bottle, and a dance bag.

And it just occurred to me that I only lifted the mask on Cleo, not on the other two. Ugh. Oh, well. We've seen these around for a bit now, so I'm sure there are plenty of other photos.

I might have been distracted having too much fun with Cleo to pay better attention to the others.

All three are lovely though.

Too fun. Love her!

Here's the bag. I didn't take the bottle out but they're not very interesting anyway. Cute but nothing earth-shattering.

I like the designs on the bags though.

I love this Twyla because that mask is definitely on the creepy side.

I love her, too.

Excellent detailing.

And finally, Lagoona, who is equally good.

I love the all blue legs for a change. One of her fins did fall off in the box. I've never had that happen with a G3 Lagoona before, so keep an eye out if you get her.

So pretty!

The darker lips and updos really make this line, along with the intricate masks.

Tentacle bag!

Almost all together. I swear I'll go back for Clawdeen next week or so.

REVIEW: Monster High Core 3.0 CLEO

Cleo surprised me by arriving fashionably early. She wasn't supposed to be here until next week, according to her estimated delivery.

Crappy accessories pic. Hey, at least you can see them in the boxed photo.

I LOVE the pyramid Toblerone.

I also really love the salad. There's a lid on the bowl and it's just very nice.

The purse is not at all functional, so it's not my favorite. It's like a big gold lump.

Gotta love leaning Hissette.

And she is practically perfect.

I did not love Core 2.0 Cleo, so this more than makes up for her. She's the only one I wanted from 3.0 and she does not disappoint.

I did have to trim her bangs a little and mine's gold lip line is off center, but I don't even care. She's still stunning.

She's just wow.

Like I'm not even nitpicking the pink and purple, because they're less featured here than on other Cleos.

Not my fave shoes but not awful.

I'm so very, very happy they finally put her in the pants she should have had from day one.

She's going into the very last spot on the coffee table.

She must be in front of me all the time when I'm on the couch.

Love the phone. Like a lot.

I did struggle with getting her to hold the candy, only to end up giving it to Buried Secrets Cleo, who held it perfectly.

I'm just so thrilled with her!

LAZY REVIEW: Monster High Skulltimate Secrets Oasis

I have had these ghouls for a little bit now, but Winx took priority.

I'm not going to do full reviews, as they've been out for a while and other people have covered everything. So I just have boxed pics and some quick photos of my final styles for each.

I thought Jin was going to be my fave from the line, but she's not. Sorry, Jin.

A lot of it is due to her very all over the place color scheme and her not so great hair.

I do love the brocade bottoms for this line. The belts are okay. Jin has the best one, so she's the only one wearing hers.

I like the plastic tops, though her colors aren't my favorites. I think there's something about the bolder greens and golds contrasting with the lighter pearl and blues that I'm not in love with. Like I honestly prefer her second pair of shoes, but the blue does not go well with her golden legs.

I do like the green shoes, but you can see that one of mine is a bit mangled.

Her makeup is stunning though.

I'm really mostly disappointed in her hair quality. It's quite rough with lots of flyaways.

All three purses and fans are perfection.

She gets one more from a different angle. She really is lovely facially.

She also has my fave sunglasses. I almost had her wear them, but I don't want to cover those eyes.

She's not bad. She's just not my favorite.

I thought I'd be able to skip Laura. Don't we all have enough Lauras?

But then...

This is not a skippable doll.

Love the brocade shorts. Love the plastic top. I love the top underneath, too.

Really love the sandals. I think these are some of my fave Laura shoes ever.

The purse, the fan, so cute!

THIS FACE.

Okay, my pic sucks, but she's amazing.

I actually wanted to bring her out to be my coffee table Laura, but I want to keep the three of these together and I don't have that much space. Like I still want Garden Venus and Twyla out here, too, and yeah, my table is basically at capacity. Heh.

So who's assuming my fave is Laura now?

You'd be wrong, because it's this ghoul!

This Lagoona is sooooooooooo gorgeous.

She's the only one I'm not putting in the brocade, because I prefer the blue to the pink for her skirt. I love this shade.

She's also the only one not getting the plastic top because I love this top more than that one.

Her hair is a bit rough, but it fits this style, whereas it does not fit Jin's hairstyle at all.

Look at her. She is just perfect.

So favorites order: Lagoona, Laura, Jin.

All of them are excellent dolls though. I hated Hauntlywood, so it's nice for this line to be something I like again.

REVIEW: Playmates Toys Winx Club TECNA

Tecna! If you've been reading my episode summaries, you'll know Tecna is my overall favorite character. I think a lot of kids may end up relating to her, so it's a shame she's not in stores. I bought 2 each of her and Musa to pick favorite faces, so I'm hoping my returns find their way into kids' hands.

Awesome wings.

Her outfit is a dark purpley blue that tends to photograph more blue.

Her outfit is nice, but I'm really disappointed neither doll company crossed her top straps the right way. How hard would that have been to do? Just make the straps a little longer and cross them. Such a weird choice.

Musa has the best outfit, Tecna has the best boots.

A portion of the side of her head is shaved. She does have more shaved head underneath the hair, but the color is more pink while this is more purple.

Tecna also had gel to wash out of her hair, so these pics are after it's been washed and dried.

Much better.

Tecna has the opposite problem Musa does. Her forehead is a little too big. But I think she still looks pretty great.

The late arrivals together.

I will get around to taking pics of all six together when I feel better. I'd love to say that would be tomorrow, but we'll see.
