REVIEW: Creative Soul x Disney Snow White

I've had this poor lady stuck in her box for months because I couldn't decide if I wanted to open her or not. The front of the box is nice, but the gorgeous photos on the side and back kept me trying to figure out what to do. Then I learned Creative Soul has a new book that released recently and I'll be getting a copy when I can. I believe these photos are included. A version of Snow White is even on the cover.

I love the styling and these photos.

She almost makes me wish the line was younger girls, not adult dolls. But then I love the sculpt on the actual doll, too.

My single criticism is that a $60 doll should come with a stand. Just something simple would do the trick. Her legs are softer rubber, not hard plastic with a knee joint, so it's not like she's that stable under her voluminous skirt.

Gorgeous shoes.

I love the accessories and the floral detail on the dress.

Beautiful jewelry. Love the bow and her hair. Especially love her face.

I'm very impressed with her out of the box. Loved her in it, but I'm a deboxer and I like to feel the fabrics and textures of a doll.

This design was by far my favorite of the four. Her skintone and hair and the bold colors and patterns. She's exquisite. I love her so much that I may end up with Cinderella at some point. She was my second fave.

Highly recommend these dolls!

REVIEW: LOL OMG Fierce Cleopatra

I refused to pay $100 for this doll. I was a bit annoyed with the blurb on the back, which almost alluded to the doll BEING Cleopatra, and that held me off on purchasing, because this is nothing like a historical doll, so why would they even? I saw her in TJ Maxx for $60 and after seeing her in person, I knew I wanted one because she was pretty, but I still refused to pay full price. Or even $60. I bided my time and got her on Amazon for $43.95. That I'm content with.

Upon another reading, the blurb is still a bit odd. But whatever. MGAE aren't the most humble company in existence.

The back of the box is pretty awesome.

And the front is boring in comparison, so she was definitely coming out of there.

Free from the bigger box pieces.

Now almost instantly, I knew there was a massive design flaw here. Someone with apparently zero practicality decided to make those arm cuffs both out of softer plastic AND slit. They will not stay on.

If you're going to do arm cuffs, they need to either be harder plastic with a slit OR they need to be softer plastic but a solid piece so they slide up the arm and stay there. The softer rubber helps it cling in place. But you can't use stretchy soft rubber and have it slit. These are so wide open they fall off if her arms aren't in permanent adoration mode. Not a good design quality for a $100 doll.

Her hair is minorly gelled, but I didn't bother removing it. It's squished under her headband anyway.

I love her face, minor makeup imperfections and all.

Ah, yes, the bob haircut. Behold this rarity of the doll world. (Sigh.)

I love the braids, but if you have both moved forward, they block the earrings and that's unacceptable.

The gorgeous earrings are my favorite detail.

The denim kilt is not remotely a favorite. White. This would have looked awesome in white.

I like the shoes more than I expected to.

This thing is enormous!

The elastic seemed a bit small, but it worked okay. I took off her headband and earrings and it went right on. I was nervous about removing the earrings, but they turned out to be quite easy to handle.

*adoration noises*

Really sticks out in the back, too.

And that is it.

Overall, I like the doll, but she's not a $100 doll. No way. I'm glad I got one for less than half price. Some details are nice, but the complete failure of the arm cuffs is pretty deplorable.

I'm naming mine Nefertari. I'm tired of everyone always using Cleopatra. She wasn't even Egyptian, y''all. Come on. Stop obsessing over her.

After these photos, she joined my shrine space in the center and she looks awesome there with my other Egyptian dolls. (That aren't MH. Cleo and Nefera are with the other MHers.)

NEWS: Magic Mixies PIXLINGS

Willow, Marina & Celeste

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

Thanks to some sleuthing by a friend, we have our first look at the new Magic Mixies Pixlings.

I was not expecting dolls. Not at all. I figured they'd be little figures kinda like the Hatchimals pixies.

These are GORGEOUS.

They remind me of both Enchantimals and the Monster High G2 little siblings, but wayyyyyyyyyy better.

More pics on each listing, but this is the best one.

The License 2 Play website has this description:

Magicus Mixus – it’s time to meet the Pixlings! From a mystical land in the Mixies universe, Pixlings come from Elixia, a faraway land where they make their potions and spread magic worldwide!

Add ingredients, mix your potion, and discover who magically appears inside the Potion Bottle! Be amazed as your Pixling magically seems in your potion bottle after adding the unique magical ingredients!

And it says they're available July 31st.

I hope Amazon gets some listings up. I can see one for Amazon CA, which thankfully says "S1 W1 Doll single Pk Pink" so we won't be forced to blind open dolls. But the link goes to the dogs when I click it.

Now I'm super excited for these! They're so beautiful!

REVIEW: Monster High Clawd

Clawd arrived from Amazon today.

While I do like him in the show, I'm not a fan of how they did his doll. Getting rid of his facial hair was not a good move.

Box art showing how visible his ears should be.

First though, here's Rockseena! I adore her. Definitely one of the cutest G3 pets yet.

Bag, sunglasses and jersey.

Bottle, snacks and wolfy phone.

Here is Clawd straight out of the box. His hair looked big in the promos, but it's even bigger on the final product. You can't see his ears at all!

He would have been so much cuter with the goatee.

Aside from too much hair, there's also the issue of his ears being...glued on? I'm hoping there's more of an attachment there than just glue, but I'm not investigating.

I got the scissors out and made sure I could see Clawd's ears.

He's much cuter now. Why would you make a wolf character and hide his ears?

Jersey on.

Just the tank from under the jacket. I like this design.

His bag is boring though. Like he's going to drag a gym bag around school to all his classes.

I almost left him in the tank only, but I love that moon on the jacket.

I'm happy he was pretty easy to trim, though I'm still not thrilled with the lack of facial hair, the thinning of his brows, and his eye shape in general. Clawd on the show is really cute, but the doll just isn't nearly as cute. I got him mostly because I want to support the boy dolls. I'd like them to get to Heath, Manny and Gil. Maybe Finnegan if they ever give him an actual character.

NOSTALGIA TIME: Heart Family

The Kiss & Cuddle Heart Family dolls came out in 1986 when I was 7 and 8. I thought she was so beautiful. The neighbor kid my mom used to babysit for had the family set and I got to play with them over there, so I never got Mrs. Heart for myself.

I'm not sure how she slipped my mind when I've been recollecting childhood loves for decades now, but here we are with me having only just bought her. I got a great deal on ebay and brought this home for $27.50.

The box is practically like new. I didn't keep it, but it was very crisp.

Ah, takes me back.

I have zero interest in baby boy here. Someday I'll wash his face and try to reduce that shine.

Here she is!

I loved this dress so much when I was little. It's funny how much red we saw in the 80s, but now it's like toy companies are afraid of it. How often is red replaced with pink? All the damn time. I had a bunch of red Barbie clothes, plus major characters like Strawberry Shortcake and Rainbow Brite wore red. It was often overlooked (how I wanted a red MLP!), but you definitely saw red more often in the 80s than you do now.

I put Mrs. Heart on my 80s Barbie shelf between Jewel Secrets Whitney and one of my two Dance Club Kaylas. Sweet Roses PJ and all the Rockers are nearby, along with a lot of other favorites. She's home.

REVIEW: Ruby Red Fashion Friends Wonderland Siblies

I preordered the RRFF Wonderland Siblies pair from Happily Ever After and they arrived today.

These run around $100 each.

I'm not a huge Wonderland collector, but these were very appealing.

I deboxed Little Alice first.

She comes with a collector card, a band that helps hold her wig in place, a bow attached to a barrette, her shoes, and her still in tissue paper outfit.

Back of the card. Mine is #15.

I love the asymmetrical dress.

Her bow went on fairly easily.

She's cute in an unusual way. I got her because I liked the dress style and bob, but also because she actually looks like some people on my dad's side of the family.

I love this weird dress.

I wanted to like the apron, but it really sticks out weird. I ended up taking it off.

The Queen of Hearts comes with a card, a wig band, her crown, her very pointy shoes, and her wrapped outfit.

#53 this time. It would have been cool if they'd matched, but the likelihood is slim, especially because the queen shipped so much later than Alice due to a fabric change.

I adore this dress! And those shoes are fab. The hearts are raised and there's red underneath.

People have been getting this doll and describing her as sassy. Yep. I see it. She manages to have attitude even only in her shoes and panties.

So pretty!

Her makeup is gorgeous. Definitely my favorite Siblie ever.

And of course, I'm a big fan of the very short hair she got.

I almost kept her like this.

The crown was not the easiest to get on. Despite the wig band, both these girls' wigs slide around a lot. That crown is pretty heavy and I had to situate the barrette in just the right place.

Worth the struggle. I do like how it looks.

I love these two. Definitely a take on Wonderland that I can get behind.
