Fun in Wicked Wonderland

No structured review here, just a photo dump and babbling. 

I had no real interest in Wicked Wonderland, because while I enjoyed Rise of Red, I found myself not hanging onto the characters over time as much as I did with the original trilogy. I did keep my Chloe and Uliana dolls, but that's it. 

So imagine my surprise when I liked Wicked Wonderland A LOT more. The characters were more fun. There was no stupid time travel, but it was nice to see the consequences of said time travel. 

Mostly though, I was here for the hook. I rolled my eyes initially at yet another Hook sibling. Harriet, CJ, Harry and now Hazel? But then she came onscreen and it was love. Hazel is such a fun character. Loved her design and her actress has an amazing face. Obviously, I had to have her doll. 

Mattel is not my favorite for Descendants. They try to capture the actors, but then they also seem to make the heads and features too big. Hazel's actress has smaller eyes and that's part of what makes her facial structure interesting. Here they're too big. All of her features are too big. But she's still pretty and it's one of only two pieces of merchandise for her. 

I normally hate that sort of topknot, but in the movie, it wasn't bad. Here it's a bit too big. 

They tried to do the gold in her hair, but I wish they'd done more. 

She's such a sass bomb. I think she's actually my fourth fave after Carlos, Harry and Mal. If she got more screentime, she might beat Mal.

 

She's going to end up on my living room favorites shelf. She's actually already there, but it's not fully set up yet. 

Chloe was not my favorite this movie. I remember liking her a lot more last time. She was too whiny and pouty. She had some good points, but Max had a far better reason to have a grievance with Red. 

This VK look though! Gorgeous!

I like her main outfit a lot, but the doll wearing it is not the best. I saw her in Walmart and all of them have horrible faces. Here she still has a bigger head and features, but it works better. 

I think the evil bracelet was on the other hand in the movie, wasn't it?

I sold my Rise of Red doll, but I loved this look from the finale of the new movie, so she was the one I picked, even though she was the "surprises" version, so she's less articulated. 

I like this outfit a lot. 

And I really love her hair!

I'll probably get the Max set eventually and maybe I'll body swap the Red dolls. 

All three ladies. I would love to add regular Chloe but I just can't with how she looked in store, and Pink wasn't great either, though if she went on sale, I'd definitely buy her. I liked her in the movie. Max will end up here eventually. Again, would love a sale, but they just came out. 

I did get some of the mini figures and ended up with Red, Chloe, Pink and Luis. How did Luis not get a doll? I'll have to order more because I NEED Hazel.

REVIEW: Descendants 4 Uliana

LOVE! HER! 

Okay, I love me some Uma, but this doll outdoes any of Uma's by a long shot. 

I don't understand how they got the execution exactly right for Uliana's face, yet botched Red's so horribly. Look at this expression! It's perfect!

Her hair is stunning. I adore it. Love the little details on the edges.

Love the necklace, outfit, all the accessories. 

THE EEL. 

I love the boot mold, but I wish she had some painted details. That is literally my only complaint about this doll. 

I like all four of these in different ways.

Uliana is the strongest doll overall with an amazing design and execution. 

Chloe is my other fave alongside Uliana, even though I think her outfit is the most boring of the four. It makes sense for her character, but there's no denying it's not as flashy or detailed. Her doll is gorgeous though and I like the actress. And that sword is just fun. 

Bridget is a very pretty doll with a great outfit. She's held back by me not being very interested in her character. 

Red's only flaw is her face. But it's a pretty big flaw. 

I don't plan on buying any of the others, though that may change after seeing the movie.

REVIEW: Descendants 4 Bridget

Bridget is the one I wasn't sure I wanted, but she convinced me in person. 

So Bridget is one of the characters from Red and Chloe's trip to the past. Bridget is the Queen of Hearts, AKA: Red's mom, when she's young. 

Bridget is the only character that had crappy gelled box hair. 

Blech. 

Now that's better.

I adore Bridget's outfits. They're so detailed and pretty. 

She's very pretty and does resemble the actress. 

Little barrette. 

Love the charm belt. 

I'm torn on the jacket, as I really love the top of the dress and it covers that up, but I also love the right side of the jacket with its floral detail. 

Bridget's accessory is a cupcake that she can't hold very well. A little loop on the plate would have been perfect. Mattel is so good at this for MH, but not here. 

She's very pretty and I love her outfit. Sometimes I do like pink and she does it well.

REVIEW: Descendants 4 Red

Finally getting around to these ladies. I've had them deboxed for a few days. 

I want to love Red. I love the live action footage we've seen of her. I actually love everything about the doll except her face. 

They somehow got all the faces right for the actors except for Red's. You know, the main character? Missed the mark on her. 

Her face is too skinny and all cheekbones, then her features are way too big for it. Her eyes should have been narrower. She needs to look mischievous and she doesn't at all. A wider jaw really would have helped, too. 

The boots are cute. 

Overall, I like her, but her odd face is going to take some getting used to, and I just don't understand how they arrived at that end product when they have plenty of images of the actress to go by. 

I do like the outfit. I didn't take the jacket off because I didn't want to mess with those fishnets getting caught on anything.

REVIEW: Descendants 4 Chloe Charming

My first new Descendants doll! 

Now that Mattel is taking over the line, the characters look less stylized and more like their actors. I have mixed feelings on this, because now the line will never be cohesive, but then again, Chloe here is gorgeous. I loved Malia in Babysitters Club (as my fave, Mary Anne!) and was sad they never did dolls for the show. Not that it seemed likely they would, but it would have been awesome to add them to my BSC doll collection. Anyway, I'm happy to have another character of Malia's on my shelves. 

The box was a new style. Quite easy to open. It's mostly plastic flaps and cardboard now. I had to cut the plastic bits around her wrists and the wider plastic band around her waist, but the only plastic Ts, as I call them, were in her head. 

Chloe is capable of standing on her own. She's not the most stable but it is possible.

Gorgeous!

Her top is actually a bodysuit. (I didn't want to remove the gloves, so I just pushed her jacket down.)

The rest of the outfit is pants, a wide belt, and translucent glittery pearl boots.

Chloe is an athletic character and comes with a sword! Love it. 

This is one of my favorite pics that I've taken in ages. 

Absolutely LOVE this doll! I'm so glad it was Chloe who was in stock enough to come overnight. Red, Bridget and Uliana are supposed to come tomorrow, but I doubt they're going to make it. I wish they would because I'm not sure USPS will deliver on the holiday Thursday. (I can't tell you the last time Amazon shipped dolls USPS. Weird and potentially annoying.) I'm not sure if I'll be buying any dolls aside from the core ones. I'm still not even 100% sure on Bridget, but I'll probably keep her. I don't really think I need the Queen or Cinderella though, and Uma doesn't look enough like Chyna for me to buy her. I'd love them to make a doll of the young Maleficent but I'm not holding out too much hope.

REVIEW: Descendants 3 Evie and Audrey

Two more Descendants 3 dolls today!

I had Evie and Audrey on order from Amazon, but they weren't in stock, so when they popped up at Target.com, I ordered from there instead and cancelled the Amazon order.

In case anyone is wondering, Amazon has the dates on the 4 fashion packs as August 14th-September 17th. I still have them on order.

Let's look at Evie first. I typically prefer Mal, but this Evie is stunning.

I like the new face for her. Not a new mold, but a redesign of the eyes. I think she looks more like the actress now.

Her color scheme, as always, is lovely.

Evie got the best hair of the D3 dolls so far. Mal's is close behind, Uma slightly after that and Audrey distant last. I'll go on more about that when we get to her.

I love the sleek look for this movie.

My only nitpick is that she doesn't have her tiara. Mal's got giant rubber gloves. They could have given Evie a tiara.

And a face comparison. Old Evie was lovely, but New Evie is lovelier.

And Audrey! Thanks, Target, for slapping the sticker right on the front of the box.

I love this darker yet still showing signs of Auradon look for Audrey.

This outfit is just great. Dusty pink is one of my favorite pinks.

I like the necklace, but if you look at the box pic, you'll see it's not right. I would have much preferred the more sinister necklace she actually wears.

That hair though. It looks nice (sort of), but it's dry and definitely feels far inferior to the hair on the other dolls in the line. Not as bad as the first movie's dolls, but not on par with the others in this line or the D2 line.

I'm not sure if I'm going to get the 2-pack with Audrey. I don't really need it, since I prefer this look. But you never know. If not, I'll be back eventually with fashion pack reviews!
