Got Hairdorables Rage?

If you are getting Hairdorables doubles, PLEASE email Just Play and let them know. I spoke with a customer service rep today and she said my email was the only complaint they had so far. I know pretty much everyone collecting is getting doubles, so please take a moment to go here:
https://justplayproducts.com/contact/
And let them know that you're getting multiples of the same doll, too. If we all speak up, maybe we can do something about the terrible distribution within these assortments.

I wanted to love this line, but I'm already honestly pretty sick of it. I'm tired of seeing the same ones and I haven't been able to arrange a single trade so far. How are we supposed to collect with nothing but roadblocks in the way?

  1. How many duplicates have you received so far? I was tempted to pick them up at the store, but did not just for this exact worry. They are so expensive, getting duplicates is a major financial setback. And there are so many listed on the website as "available," duplicates should be a big issue. I can't imagine being a small child saving up my allowance and then still somehow managing to get duplicates. This whole 'blind box' thing is going way too far, in my opinion. They could at least put a kind of code on the outside of the box, so even if you don't know what doll you're getting, you know it's not a duplicate to one you already have. The new LPS blind boxes did that and as a result, I'll probably buy them all (once I find them again in the store) so I can have a complete collection.

    2. My friend and I went through most of the 80 dolls in the display at our Walmart and we only found 11 unique dolls out of all those. So yeah, a lot of doubles! However, I just got a case of 6 at my local Walmart (not the farther one with the 80) and each one was different. So I think your best bet is looking for individual cases or at least getting them from stores without the huge display.

    3. How did you figure out there were only 11 unique ones? did you buy them all or did they have codes?

  2. I’m so confused, did you guys BUY 80 dolls or GO THROUGH 80 dolls? That point doesn’t make sense that’s nearly $1100 in product that you’ve either gone thru via bar codes, but you just clarified you guys bought way too many? Also why are you upset at doubles? That sounds like the hugest first world problem for a line who’s basis is blind boxes. Distribution on a line that just came out especially a blind box line is going to have situations like that. That’s literally the entire premise of the line. Why put yourself in that situation ? Just genuinely confused. If I knew there was a possibility of getting hella doubles I wouldn’t even get into collecting these, but again it seems as though you want releases to follow your own suit and be as perfected and premeditated as possible. I’ve followed you for an extremely long time and when I was younger I assumed that you were just a very opinionated adult and I was just a dumb kid, but I’m now realizing you literally have the patience of a child. This is our blog you live your absolute best dammed life, but girl. Seriously? Emailing a company and tell them about their “poor distribution “ on a product who’s release hasn’t even fully circulated, and who’s entire BASIS of this line is “hey you might get doubles they’re blind boxes” like woah dude dial back the special snowflakeism so hard. Your blogs used to thrive with other collectors now it generally seems as though the impatient , angst like rants constantly fueled by how unfair toy companies are to adults have driven your core audience away. Please also go on to tell me how as a kid you would’ve been “so upset at doubles” but do you expect parents not to say “hey hun you might get the same one because we can’t see which is which” just reading this post and the comments set me off clearly , finally after 12 years removing the last piece of you from my internetife is going to feel amazing.

    1. Just in case anyone else out there is reading this, I'll take the time to answer the questions. Original comment person is likely so fed up, they've been long gone for the week it's taken me to see this. (No great loss.)

So let's think about this. There are 80 dolls in this Walmart display. There are 36 different dolls in the Hairdorables line. You would think that, barring the 3 rare ones, all 33 regular dolls would be in a display of 80 dolls. Like am I crazy in thinking that? Maybe it is crazy, but other lines definitely have the majority of each line in a single case. Look at LOL Surprise. You buy a case, you're getting most of the line, except the rares. I don't think it's some wild, off the wall idea with a basis in nothing to have thought this enormous display of dolls would have most, if not all, of the line in it.

So yes, this display of 80 dolls had only 11 different dolls in it. Not even one of each character was represented. Does that not sound like a problem to you? Yes, this is indeed a blind box line, but no blind box line I have ever come across has had that little variety. And other people buying from their massive Walmart displays had the same problem.

It has since been figured out that 12 of the regular dolls plus 2 of the rares are not showing up in stores yet, despite being told that they were all out. The only people that have gotten these have been given dolls directly from the company. Now that we know this, we know that we can take a break until this next batch comes out.

I do think it's important for customers to communicate with the company. My original email to them was to ask if all the dolls were out, because my friend and I had run into so many doubles. This post here is the result of speaking with the customer service rep. I didn't flat out say it in my post, but she WANTED to hear about problems with the line. They WANT to know about stuff like this so they can FIX it. Think about it. They're a brand new line in the very competitive blind box market. They want to succeed. If they have people getting $13 double after $13 double, more than with other blind box lines, they will fail. That's why they WANT input. That's why I encouraged others to give them said input. Fix the problem, the line succeeds, we get more doll awesomeness.

As for the silly little bit challenging me to say I would have been upset with doubles as a kid: YES, I would have. What kid wouldn't? It's not like kids have unlimited spending money. And guess what? Kids right now are upset about the high number of doubles. Parents are upset. Surprise, surprise. This isn't just a bunch of entitled adult collectors. I read a post today about a kid who got 2 for her birthday and they were the same doll. Her mom's trying to trade for a different one. Thankfully, we have the internet now and a great trading community that's picked up a lot of members so we can all help each other complete collections.

So to sum up: The distribution on these is messed up. It's not just some entitled illusion. We were encouraged to share information with the company so they can fix their problems and increase their chances of success.

Have an amazing life, stranger who followed me for 12 years but still hides behind a mask.
