MGAE Reveals Part 2 & MONSTER HIGH Reveals

More new stuff to talk about!

Not going in any priority order, but I scrolled back on Youloveit to where I'd stopped last time, so we'll begin with more Yummiland.

YUMMILAND:

-The two purse dolls are cute but nothing I'd buy.

-The color change series (different from the Sour Sweeties) are also cute, but only Gwen Gummybear is really grabbing my attention. I wonder if she's related to Gabi from the Sour Sweeties. I could maybe see myself getting the snocone one, too.

-Yummiland brings us two Halloween and two Christmas dolls this year. My faves are Halle Candy Cane and of course both Halloween ones.

LOL OMG:

-OMG has some stuff I'm not interested in, so I'm not going into detail, but I have to talk about the weird Powerpuff Girls dolls. Blossom and Buttercup really aren't bad, but who hates Bubbles? Why make her cross-eyed? Such a strange choice. That said, I'm absolutely getting Buttercup, but not because I care about Powerpuff at all. It's because she reminds me of Veronica from Archie comics.

RAINBOW HIGH:

-The Junior High band dolls are all pretty cute. I like the Skyler doll a lot but hate her outfit. Sunny is pretty solid, as is Bella. It's really Amaya that's the only weak one for me. Their problem is that everything else RH is putting out at the same time blows these out of the water.

-There are 3 new create dolls. You know, the all-white ones that you add color to. Nothing really special here, although the black girl looks a lot like Storm.

-The strongest reveal from yesterday was the Sparkle & Shine new characters. Four new characters with the lava lamp-style legs. I've seen so many people bitch about these that I wonder if they like Novi Stars. Because a lot of MGAE fans certainly have nostalgia for Novis, yet they had these same leg features they whine about on RH. Yes, Novis were a more fantasy line, but let's be real. That's exactly what RH has become. These haven't been realistic since they abandoned Poppy and barely remember Jade and Ruby. Personally, I think skipping an overall well-designed doll just because of articulation or a leg feature is silly. And these are four very well-designed dolls. MISTY is the strongest one for me. I love almost everything about her. I do think she should have better shoes though. But her entire look aside from that and that mirror and purse? Love. She's like RH Uma. WHITNEY wasn't my second fave at first, but now she is. There's just something about her entire look. I adore the makeup the most, but her outfit and hair are also stellar. Then we've got pinky-purple LEILANI, whose hair is her best feature. She's tame outfit and makeup-wise, but I do like the purse and phone case a lot. DAWN is the fourth one and she has an epic makeup style. Her outfit is really cute and I love the backpack. What holds her back is her boring hairstyle. Pretty color but just boring. Very excited about these though!

MONSTER HIGH:

-Skulltimate 7 is an oasis line, which made me very annoyed that Cleo was left out of it. But the outfits turned out to be generic beachwear, so I'm less annoyed now. All three have the potential to be pretty, based on the box art, but Jin is the only one I'll probably get. I dunno. I may weaken on Lagoona, but I don't really need another Lagoona.

-Mattel announced two SDCC exclusive dolls yesterday. I'm annoyed that the best Elvira is one I'll never get. I love that winking face. I still hate that they body-shamed the doll by giving her a breast reduction, but I would have tried for this doll if it wasn't an exclusive. A lot of people love Sweet Screams Twyla, but she has one of my current most hated motifs: dripping crap. Cotton candy does not melt like that. There was no need for all this goo on her. Her hair and the dress are cool, but she's an easy pass for me.

-You know what Twyla isn't a pass though? Buried Secrets Series 3! I wasn't into the Clawdeen we've already seen at all, but Twyla looks adorable with a sleek updo and her mask is excellent. Cleo is also a must have for me. You can always get me with an Anubis mask. But she's also gorgeous hair and makeup-wise. And I'll probably get Lagoona, too. I guess I just like these updos. I also like her makeup and full water legs. And her mask. And cute shorts. Yeah, everyone except Clawdeen it is. I guess I need another Lagoona after all! So maybe there's hope for oasis as well.

That wraps it up for now. We're gonna be broke, y'all.

SHE'S HERE!

I told absolutely no one about what specifically this was, just mentioned I'd gotten one of my most wanted vintage pieces. I didn't want to jinx anything.

BUT NOW SHE IS HERE.

AND SHE IS PERFECTION.

Okay, so she's kinda stuck doing a permanent dance move, but who cares?

I never once thought I'd get to open a boxed one. She's so pristine and gorgeous.

I will eventually photograph her with her sisters, but right now, she deserves the spotlight.

For context, I bought Jeanette in February 2009 and Eleanor in March 2010. It's taken this long for me to find a Brittany.

REVIEW: Monster High Welcome Committee Frankie

I'm so glad Amazon finally released Frankie! How long have we been waiting for them? Feels like forever.

Loads of accessories. There's also a larger version of the poster.

One thing I wish they'd done is increase the variety of snacks. This is for a welcome committee meeting with new members, so why only have snacks for Clawdeen and Laura?

Watzie, cute as ever.

This doll is stunning.

A lot of people have shown them already, so I'm not going in depth, but this is an excellent Frankie.

Gore-geous!

REVIEW: Bratz Scorchin'

I was so happy my Target actually got the Scorchin' line in pretty early! Not actually early but not weeks later either, you know?

I'm just gonna say it right off the bat: Best Bratz line since the original series. Hands down.

The packaging and art certainly bring the nostalgia.

These girls are $14.99 each and they're well worth it.

You only get the doll with a pair of sunglasses, but the quality is there.

They have the original Bratz-style basic articulation.

Once again, great packaging.

I'm going to look at them alphabetically. I really do not have one of these girls that I like less than the other three. There is no least favorite.

First thing, the hair. They needed a gel wash, but it came out pretty easily and dried nicely.

While I don't have a least fave, Cloe here is actually my favorite when it comes to the doll herself, not the outfit. I actually think she has the weakest outfit of the four. It's not bad, but there isn't one standout element for me.

Her face is simply stunning. The silver lashes with the single black eyeliner slash go so well with the blue shadow and nude lip. I think this is actually the prettiest Cloe I own, tied only with Pretty N Punk.

The lipstick heels are my least favorite thing about the line. I love when MH does this stuff, but I dunno. It looks weird here.

Love the boots otherwise though.

Jade will always be my favorite overall out of the main four.

This isn't her best doll though. I don't love the lip detailing, though the red is great. I also don't love that she barely has any eyeshadow. It's a hint of pink, but the others got way better looks. She's still gorgeous, but just not on the same makeup level as the other three.

Outfit-wise, I love the shorts. The jacket is cool, but not my fave of the four.

Still gorgeous.

The back of the jacket says 2001, lest we ever forget the year they came out.

The boots are very typical Jade so a little too safe to interest me much, but she does have the best lipstick heels. The red works better with that than the other shades.

I didn't like Cloe's at first, but on her, I actually quite like them.

Agh, I love her.

Sasha and Yasmin got the best jackets. I'm a sucker for a little bell sleeve.

I forgot to pull her skirt back down. I had these girls sitting while their hair dried. Whoops.

They nailed the makeup on her! LOVE the eyeshadow. And I love her lip color. It works better with the lip detailing and doesn't make it look so...I dunno, drastic?

She's got my least fave boots. They're just not that interesting. And her lipstick heel doesn't match her actual lipstick.

Okay, if I had to pick a head to toe best doll from this line, it's Yasmin.

She's got the same bell sleeve thing going on as Sasha, but I like this design better.

The black ruffle on the skirt. LOVE. I also forgot to pull her skirt down but at least it's a little less obvious. Sorry, ladies.

Perfect makeup!

Best boots.

Love the back of the jacket.

The star mole.

The silver corners leading into the purple.

She's just amazing. Not my very favorite Yasmin ever, but I think she takes the #3 spot after Pretty N Punk and Midnight Dance.

Yasmin got the best sunglasses, too.

Stunning. I really would love to see a Series 2. Meygan in green. Felicia in orange. Dana in gray or silver. Nevra in pink.

Really cannot express how much I love this line and how much it takes me back to the old Bratz heyday and the excitement of finding a new line in stores and happily opening them all.

MGAE Reveals

I thought I'd babble some about upcoming MGAE releases. Pictures for most of these can be found on Youloveit, Reddit or Insta. I'm too lazy to post them all.

One thing about MGAE is that they can always surprise me.

YUMMILAND:

The new line for the small lip gloss dolls is called Sour Sweeties, though most of these candies aren't sour. I don't watch the show, but I believe these are the antagonists.

Okay, first of all: BLAKE LICORICE. A black licorice-themed doll? She looks kinda goth? I only have her tiny, blurry backyard photo to go by, but it looks like she's wearing a black corset and purple bell sleeves. Nice.

Then we've got a nice promo image of Gabi Gummybear. She's pastel blue and pink, yeah, but also a lot of black, and that dark lipstick really works for her. I love that her hair looks like a bag of gummy bears. She's excellent.

On Reddit, I've seen a good promo of Astrid Stars and she's another win. I like how these girls are pastel but with just enough black accents to feel edgier. Love the long purple skirt. Really love her hair and makeup.

Misty Cakes is the last one we've got a nice promo image for. She's pretty. I like her elaborate hair and outfit. I'll likely get her, though she lacks the black.

The other two in the line are Nina Heartpop, who looks like she has neat pigtails and black accents, and Sasha Sourworms, who has gummy worm hair and in the animated style art, it looks gross. Only Medusa can pull that look off. So very likely, I'll be getting them all except Sasha.

VERY impressed with these. I like Yummiland and love the handful I own, but I was definitely not expecting a bunch of black-accented bad girls for this next series.

SHADOW HIGH:

May as well move on to the other black thing on the list.

Images of the four Shadow High basic dolls have surfaced.

HEATHER: Easily the standout of the four for me. Love her dress and boots!

SHANI: She is always stunning. I'm not really into the dress but I don't hate it either.

LUNA: Gorgeous and the dress is cool, but I wish this was Nicole instead. We already have two Luna dolls.

NATASHA: Will I ever think about her without singing her song in my head? Nope. She's also gorgeous. Love the skirt.

I'll definitely happily buy all these.

RAINBOW HIGH:

I stopped watching the show, so I have no idea what's going on. I should catch up. But we're getting the main cast with the transparent legs like the Moonbows have.

SKYLER: I LOVE her hair. The texture, the colors. The top kinda sucks, but the skirt has promise and the shoes don't look too bad.

VIOLET: I actually really like her outfit and the shoes especially. I like the more subtle color additions to her hair.

IRIS: I skipped the first Iris, but I'll be getting this one.

Then we've got the Littles in a fairy theme. I'm a sucker for fairy themes. They come with cute pets and one pair of wings that can either go on the pet or the doll. The legs are transparent fantasy colors.

APPLE: Love her. Brown. I love brown on fashion dolls. She's very cute and I love the deer.

EMERALD: Wasn't that a dude at RH? She looks like a Jade mini me and I love the lizard pet. Sold.

SAPPHIRE: I like her but not as much as the first two. Do love the pet though. And her skirt is really cute. She's growing on me as I type this.

AMETHYST: If I was going to skip one, it would be her, but look at that unicorn.

OPAL: By far my favorite of the line. Yeah, you'd think it would be Apple or Emerald, but no. I LOVE those pants. I love the shoes. The shirt is cute. And I'm kinda obsessed with the owl.

ASTRID: My second favorite. I hope her hair is that nice in person. It looks like snowcone pigtails! She has the strongest outfit overall and I love those boots.

I think Opal and Astrid are very strong here. Just nice little dolls overall. Apple and Emerald are right behind them, but there's really nothing wrong with Sapphire and Amethyst either.

I think that wraps it up. I don't have anything to say about LOL. I am pleasantly surprised that MGAE has once again dragged me back into its clutches. Granted, I'm already eagerly awaiting the Bratz Scorchin' dolls (HORRIBLE release, by the way), so I was halfway there anyway. And you know I'm always going to support Shadow High, which means all this was inevitable. I'm just still surprised by those Yummiland dolls! Can't wait to have them!

REVIEW: Decora Girls Ponyz Series 1 Part 1

The first Decora Girlz Ponyz are finally out. So far, they are only being sold in sets of 2 on Amazon.

Each of these boxes is a set of two with the art on the front showing the ponies inside.

They cost $14.99 each.

Only two sets are out. Decora and Gothica are not yet. Hopefully soon, as of course I really want Gothica.

It says "styles will vary," which amuses me, because they won't. The art shows exactly who you're getting.

Inside the box, there's a poster and two packets with the pony, stickers and a comb.

Poster.

The art is really cute.

So the stickers and comb are in a little pouch.

The wings on the ponies rotate.

This is Sweetie. She's candy-themed.

The names on these are confusing, because some match the corresponding girl character and some are different.

Sweetie goes with...Sweetie.

She's the only one I had trouble standing. I think her mane braid is a bit too heavy.

Sweetie comes with Selene, who is Celestia's pony.

In case anyone is wondering, I'm not planning on putting the stickers on them.

She's very cute.

Selene and Sweetie are both pegasi.

The second set has the lovely peach Kat.

Kat goes with Kat, though she lacks the matching extra curly hair, which is disappointing.

She's cute. I like her little wings.

Kat comes with Heather, who goes with...Heather. They really could have tried harder here.

I love Sweetie most of these four, but Heather is a close second. It's mostly her extremely light, kinda creepy eyes.

Heather and Kat are both unipegs.

Here are all four together.

There are two different poses. Selene is the different one. All the wing shapes are different.

Decora from the missing pair is a unipeg in the bent leg pose, while Gothica is a pegasus in the straight leg pose. Really hoping to see those two soon! I'm going to have to look up photos of the other ones to remember their designs.

I didn't take a size comparison photo, because there's a bunch of stuff in my closet blocking the way to my pony shelves, but they're roughly G4 size.

Overall, these are cute for basically $7.50 each. I'm sure kids will enjoy the sticker aspect.

REVIEW: Barbie Dream Besties ZIA

Well, that is one terrible boxed photo. I took this a couple nights ago when I was tired from work, but wanted to open Zia. And it shows.

Honestly, I'm being slow at getting back into my review groove. I've still got a lot going on in life and my focus hasn't been on this stuff in a long time. I'm going to work at getting back into it, but it may take time.

Also honestly, I sold several of my Dream Besties. I only kept Renee, Teresa and my redressed Daisy. I thought I was done with the line, but Zia. Instant favorite.

A little bit about her.

I have not watched the show, so I really know nothing about how these characters are being handled.

Her accessories.

The book is my favorite, but I also love the magic wand phone.

Super cute.

So the first thing I did was wash her hair. I wasn't sure how it would work with the rainbow bangs, but I couldn't stand the flat, shellacked bangs. They actually came out decent. Obviously, if you want the focus of her to be the rainbow, then leave the bangs alone, but this works fine for me.

Also, you all know I am the short hair queen and get very upset when companies have an animated character with short hair, only to give the doll another foot in hair length.

Welp, not this time. Have you seen Zia's animated hair? It's hideous. This is a huge improvement.

I love her outfit. The contrast of the cutesy sweater and little lace socks with the vinyl skirt and black combat boots is great.

I wasn't sure on this sweater but in person I love it.

I would totally wear these.

Not the socks, but the boots.

She is so adorable.

By far my fave from the line and one of my favorite purchases from this year. I might even get another to leave her bangs untouched. Then I could get this one a custom black band tee and take the socks off.
