REVIEW: Decora Girlz Kat

Kaaaaaaaaaaaaat!

Kat is on Sweetie's level. I wasn't expecting to like the pink and purple cat girl nearly as much as others.

Yet as soon as I pulled her doll out of the plastic liner, it was love.

Like London, Kat only has two sheets of stickers, also missing the biggest size. Kat has a cat ear headband instead.

I put the aqua cat face on the back of her purse, an aqua heart on her cheek, and the flower on her dress. Then I stuck two more stickers on her cat ears, because they looked a little bare without earrings. I'm clearly too MH-influenced.

But yeah, I love her a lot. I may have to dust off my old ranking skills and make a post for these little cuties.

LAZY REVIEW: Monster High Lenore Loomington

What's a lazy review? It's when I take pictures for fun instead of trying to show detail. You can see all the details on Lenore in her promo shots on Mattel Creations.

First off, I honestly do not understand why this poor doll got so much hate. There's nothing wrong with her. Is she worth $75? No. Are any of the Skullector dolls actually worth their price tags? NO. This isn't a new thing. Skullector has always been a little step above playline when it comes to quality and then the price tag comes from the exclusivity/limited edition. People have commented on this before, but it was such a sticking point with Lenore that it's actually ridiculous.

Second, if you are such an entitled brat that you're calling for the designer to be fired just because you don't like a design, you have completely missed every lesson you should have learned from Monster High and you need to sit down and reevaluate yourself. The way this fandom has devolved into a bunch of spoiled, racist, fatphobic, you name something inclusive and they're against it jerks (to keep it clean) is very disappointing. You can't call yourself a Monster High fan and act like that.

Ugh. Anyway.

I like Lenore's story.

I've seen a bunch of "she looks like ____" comments and seriously, who cares? How many cats in different colors did we have? How many ghosts? How many pink vampires and people wanted another one?

I like her pearly skin and I love her makeup.

Her hair is lovely. Simple, but flowing and that adds to her ghostly quality for me. Long flowing dress, long flowing hair.

Absolutely love the long dress. I think MH needs way more of these. Sooooooo many minidresses. Give me a full on gown once in a while.

Her stand is taller so she can easily "float."

I adore her boot design, too. I feel like she's being formed out of ectoplasm and her boots are the final bit taking shape. That's why they're detailed at the top and still swirling ectoplasm at the bottom.

I love that spider, too.

All in all, Lenore is a lovely doll. I haven't decided where I'm going to put her yet. I may hang her with my flying Garden Ghouls to put all my gardeny girls together. Or she may stand, but then her floating aspect would be hidden by the dolls in front of her. We shall see!

BEARRIVAL

Catching up on bearrivals.

I didn't plan on getting Vanilla Pudding, but after seeing pics of him, I ordered from CB Direct.

I love his color and his fur is super soft as well as being a bit deeper pile than tyber (which I'm pretty sure this is) usually is.

Emil is a 2016 bear I've had my eye on for years, but I waited for just the right one. His promo picture had a darker patchy face like this one, but most of the real life Emils I saw had almost entirely gray faces. He's random plush, so finding just the right face can be hard.

He was worth waiting for! He's excellent and a definite flashback to my first year of collecting when more bears were shaped like this.

And this is Star Jasmine, my first bear from the 2024 collection. Not on my preorder list because I wanted to see real pics of her first, but I ended up liking what I saw.

I hardly have any yellow bears and even though she's a pale yellow, she's still yellow.

And she has a CB rarity: a tail! A few of the bears this year have them and I'm excited about it. I love when they have tails.

REVIEW: Decora Fashion Girlz Celestia

Okay, so I got Sweetie and Celestia together from Amazon. They're packaged in their normal boxes, but together in a white mailer with their names on it.

I forget when I opened Decora. I think before I went to work on Friday night. But I didn't take her photos until Saturday night and then I did London's. Then I opened Sweetie, which is why I forgot to take a pic of her in the box. I really should not do reviews after work. I get exhausted and forget things. Ah, well. Sometimes I just need to open the dolls to relax!

But I did remember to snap Celestia last night after I finished up with Sweetie's photos. I'd run out of energy, so I left Celestia to open until Monday.

Technically, it is Monday.

I think I got four hours of sleep and then one of my dogs woke me because he had to go. I was too awake to go back to sleep, so there I was in the living room, trying to quietly open dolls so I didn't disturb Mom.

So Celestia's got some unconventional review pics.

Here are her stickers.

Her hair.

It is nothing short of epic. Far and away the largest mass of hair I have ever seen compared to the size of the doll herself.

They had her hair pinned down with this horrible textured plastic piece. Why in the hell they'd put something like that in the curly-haired doll is beyond me. I had to cut it free in two places and it snagged her curls in several.

HUGE.

This is finger-combed. There are loads of curls in varying lengths. Some are tighter, some are dryer and a bit frizzy. I trimmed some dangling ends, and the purple lock on the left side of her face snagged the plastic piece so I ended up cutting it shorter.

After getting the small Celestia, I was worried how they would do her hair for the big one, but this is amazing.

Celestia is the only one without bangs, so you can fully appreciate her makeup. I love that.

She is also the only one who comes with her barrettes in place and they are staying put.

I tried a couple moon stickers on her, but I didn't like how they looked. I think her eye makeup and barrettes are enough.

I love the Saturn one in particular. That was my favorite sticker for the small doll.

Love love love her outfit!

I didn't want to add stickers to that mass of hair, but I had to put one of the UFO ones on her adorable Saturn purse.

Overall, I think she's the best of the fashion dolls. The only thing I don't like about her is how they packaged her hair. I love that you can see her face, and I think she has the best barrettes, outfit and purse.

I still love Luna most, but Celestia is a very close second and then Sweetie is right in there, too.

I hope to see more of these soon! There are only nine characters, so maybe they'll do the other five all at once.

REVIEW: Decora Fashion Girlz Sweetie

I managed to not take a photo of her in the box, so let's just jump right in with this photo of her without her hoodie or purse.

Here's all her stuff.

The purse is adorable. Most of the purses for this line are really cute.

Shoes.

More shoes.

Her cute face.

The ties on her joggers. Her shirt looks a little lumpy because of these, but I do appreciate the detail.

I thought for sure she was going to be my least favorite and I wasn't even intending to get her, but now she's...well, she's either tied for second place or she's third. I'm not sure. But it's real close between her and Celestia.

Luna and Sweetie with their braid power.

REVIEW: Decora Fashion Girlz Decora

Walmart finally shipped my Decora, so she was the second of the larger dolls I got in hand.

Cute barrettes.

She has excellent puffy stickers.

Deboxed.

Her shoes. Super cute.

No jacket.

And no skirt.

I loved her stickers so much that she has more than any other doll in this line. I don't plan on touching her much, so they're safe to stay on her without worry of them falling off.

She's very cute, but my least favorite of the four. I hate the trend of replacing red with pink in "rainbow" things. That's not a rainbow. Don't erase the red.

REVIEW: Decora Girlz London

I got my girl London by ordering the 3-pack from Amazon. The dolls came in their normal blind packaging with no differences from the ones sold in Walmart.

If you've seen London elsewhere, you know she has two long strands of hair framing her face. One is white, one is purple. Well, those were gelled up, so I rinsed it out and didn't love how it dried. One hung nicely, the other I wasn't pleased with. I tucked them both into her updo and I love her so much more like this.

If she wasn't so damn cute, she'd wear these all the time. But I want to see her face.

I did a simple one heart by each eye design for her.

I like the simplicity of her dress without any designs.

This is cute, but I also like to see her hair.

London is the only one that didn't come with 3 sheets of stickers. She's missing the biggest one. She seems to have her giant sunglasses instead.

I didn't show it, but I put the purple and white puffy bowtie sticker on the back of her purse.

Yep, she is definitely my favorite!

REVIEW: ICY Fortune Days Book of Beasts BJDs

The ICY Fortune Days company that I've bought a few dolls from on Amazon have a new series of small BJDs called The Book of Beasts.

These cost around $26 each, though they frequently have coupons.

Here's the box.

The six different characters. I bought all of them except the pink bunny.

Character cards.

I'll begin with my favorite. This is the dragon.

I ordered her and the phoenix first, saw that I liked them, and then ordered the rest.

These come in many pieces and are easy to put together if a piece happens to be off inside the box. The dragon's little horns are like that. You've just got to be careful that they stay on if you move her. Only one of mine is loose, but it's been stable since I stuck it back on.

The head is in four parts. The hair has a front piece and a back piece. The face plate is separate, and then there's a little piece with the eyes stuck to it. The eyes are capable of coming loose, but they're easy to put back in place.

The clothes, including panties, come in a separate pouch, but they're easy to put on. All sleeves go over the hands easily.

The tail is also separate, but again, easy to attach. It's rubbery, so it doesn't feel breakable at all.

I adore her. The feet and hands are particularly lovely.

The phoenix has the same hands and feet.

I love her colors and details.

The wings attach to the back like the tails on the other dolls.

She's also beautiful.

So glad I tried these out!

The deer was my logical next choice. I love, love, love her hooves. She has a little tail in the back that her hair blocks, but it's very cute.

Again, gorgeous details.

I like the cat because I'm a slight sucker for brown cats.

She's the least stable standing-wise.

Love the colors! She's so cute.

And finally, the wolf. I almost didn't but her, but I'm so glad I did. She's actually my third fave after dragon and phoenix.

That's a little tee and then the fur pieces are separate sleeves, not a full jacket.

The thing I like least is her overly long thick tail, but it also comes in handy for standing her up.

So yeah, these are darling. If the bunny was any color other than pink, I'd buy her. Why not white? Sigh. I shouldn't complain though. They're already using green, orange, gray and brown, colors seen very infrequently in the many other doll lines I collect.
